Are you a younger driver? If you drive a stick then normally you leave it in gear so then you would have had to push the clutch pedal for the car to roll.

This reminds me of the oh-$hit moments when you are sitting in a parking lot with your foot on the brake and the car beside you starts to back out and you crush the brake even more because you think you're rolling
