The thing than many folks seem not to grasp is that test track #'s don't even begin to scratch the surface when it comes to evaluating how good to drive a sports car is.

You don't even need to spend over 30K to get a better driver's car than the Z.

1.) MX-5 Miata NC2 (2009 and up) is Worlds better to drive than a 370z.
2.) BRZ / FR-S also Worlds better to drive than a 370z.

You don't have to take my word for it just read the reviews and take a test drive yourself. Don't waste your money on a car that is simply faster out of ignorance.

Many people do this and regret it. If they don't opening regret it they get highly defensive about the subject trying to defend their large purchase. Nobody likes to admit they blew a bunch a money a on crappy car.

You'd have to spend up to ~ 55K on a new Porsche Boxster / Cayman to get a car nearly as fun / rewarding to drive as the new MX-5, BRZ / FR-S.

Oh and BTW, the 370z is no Porsche Cayman, not even close. The 09' Cayman S for one blows the doors off the 370z and more importantly there's absolutely no comparison as to which is more fun / rewarding to drive. But you don't have to get a Cayman S as the base 265hp Cayman is just as well Worlds better to drive than a 370z.

Anyways, I have no doubt you'd love the cars I suggested unless perhaps you were born with an inadequate genitalia and feel you need to prove something. Get what makes "you" happy not what you think will somehow impress others of low intellect.

Have u even owned a z to know??

and i'll agree, it's no cayman... but its also almost HALF the price of a cayman s AND still has 30 more hp... can it outhandle one? nah. but its not mid engine either. apples to oranges. miatas are supposed to be fun but u are required to turn in your man card upon purchase. brz's are another car i would like to know if u have ever actually sat behind the wheel of... doubtful as well.

if u were the all knowing car guru u make yourself out to be, then why are u rocking an ms3?? i never really hate on the forum, but seeing as u been drinking the hateraid i will give it right back to ya. and considering 80% of your forum posts have been about how great the brz is, maybe u should go over to the brz forum and join. i'm sure they have a great fan base. idc if people have differing views, but keeping an account open on the 370z forum just to tell people how much better other cars are is kinda childish...

PS, go buy a golf gti... it's a better "drivers car"

Love my Z, everything wrong with it is fixable with readily available aftermarket stuff! If you're a do-it-yourselfer, about $1.3k will change the car from a track gimp to a track champ.
$600 Oil Cooler
$300 Sway Bars
$300 Brake Pads
$100 Brake Fluid

OP is looking for his man card, that's why he's asking about the Z. Miata - great car but lacks testosterone. BRZ - great car but lacks drivers with a clear complexion and will attract under-aged dates. Caymen, great car but you will be putting it through its paces on your way to wine country. Z car is perfect for the rest of us who are good looking, well hung and have hot women in the passenger seat.

Thoughts on the above...
BRZ/FRS: would of been a major contender if they where available at time of purchase. However, seeing them on the street, they look cheep with those grey plastic panels and those skinny tires. Not sure I would of been happy with it on the power side though, and who knows if I would even fit in one.
Mazda: Never made my list, only one I'd want is the RX7-FD but I don't fit in it.

I'm a pretty fat guy. I fit very comfortably in an FRS. If you're worried because you're tall, I'm not sure, but I had plenty of headroom at 5'10".

I really love the seats they put in those cars.

The Z is a fun car to drive. My wife daily drives our car for work, she loves it. The car does have some down falls, but you will have down falls with all cars. Do what we did, test drive every car you cane get your hands on. We did for 2 years and kept coming back to the Z and then finally bought it.

Don't discount the 7at. I actually really enjoy drivng it.

Hey I own a GTI also. The mags all rate it as the best hatch and it is a fun car to drive. It's also my practical car. But ask me which car I'd rather drive? It's the Z hands down!!!!!

Do what he said. I test drove cars for 5 months before deciding to go with the Z. My multiple test drives included the BRZ, Mustang GT and Cayman, had no interest in a Miata. After 2 months of Z ownership, I have not had a single day of buyers remorse.

Mine is a daily driver....Only issue I have is I will pack on the miles....75 miles round trip a day...I am not worried too much about it...It's a Nissan and they build a great car...also I have a 100,000 5 yr bumper to bumper warranty...so i will drive mine for a while with no worries

Jump in that sucker and drive

Yep, because I'm tall. Got 7 inches on you.

As a daily driver, there's only things that will hurt you on the long run that you have to accept for regretting and selling it off.

1) Gas milieage. 18mpg city is a lot of gas, but you definitely feel the gas burning as you fly straight.

2) Lack of trunk space. When I bought an office chair, I had to go home and brought out my 240sx hatchback Could barely even fit 2 tires on the sucker.

Everything else, IMO, is pretty damn good for its price tag.

I have a 94 Miata, a 09 FJ cruizer and the Z (09).

Miata- fun as long as you don't want any power. Handles great- they call it a "drivers car" like the BRZ. As soon as I got my Z, I hung the Miata up and am just kind waiting for the right relative or something to give it to... Maybe ill drop in a v8 or something. the point is, I havent driven it at all since i got the Z.

The FJ is great when the snow falls and can haul my wife and kids, but really is just a mountain climber.

The Z is AWESOME. here are the detractors.
1. no back seat
2. stock tires are loud on some roads.
3. needs an oil cooler to track (otherwise is fine)
4. 09' had a little (easy to fix) problem with the steering lock.
5. stock clutch IS A BITCH... but is pretty easily fixed.

I have never bought a perfect car. I have modded every car Ive ever owned to some degree, and I would sum up the Z as follows.:

Diamond in the rough.

Now that Ive spend a little TLC and about 5000 bucks on my Z, it is just dreamy! I like to think of the Z as an enthusiasts car, and if you love cars and like pouring a bit of yourself into you car you are going to love the Z. If you want it perfect from the dealer, then go for a test and see what you think. Some people love them stock, some do not.

I think, at least around here, the "love" factor is significantly greater than the "hate", but you can certainly find folks who adore or despise anything.

One man's meat is another man's poison, or in the case of the Miata, one man's sportscar is another man's purse and high heels

Anyway, yeah -- test drive it!
