1. Love it. No other car on the market right now at this price offers this much pure sports car experience in terms of both style and performance.

2. Yes. Often noted as being an excellent "grand tourer" (though not marketed as such) by reviewers.

3. There are a few serious issues that have cropped up for some folks (e.g., oil consumption -- covered by warranty!), but for the most part, they are very reliable cars, and upkeep is relatively inexpensive.

4. Reviewers are a fickle bunch. When the 370Z made its debut it was heralded by reviewers as one of the best sports cars on the planet for the money.

Now they are dry humping the bum of the very pretty, but much slower and fraught with several 1st gen issues, FR-S/BRZ.

Who knows where their collective hard-on's will point next?

And who cares? The 370Z is a great sportscar -- Porsche Cayman performance for half the cash = winnar

no, it's one of the more difficult manuals to drive but with practice anything is possible.

The car is not a good daily driver, not reliable, and all reviews are bad. That's why I bought the car and joined this forum.

It is the worst purchase I ever made, a mistake, I'm actually sorry because of all the headaches. I believe everything the automotive press put out there yet I bought the darn thing.

Not sure why you're asking but welcome to the forum. I joined the forum before buying my Z. Lot's of friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful people here.

On that note, the 7AT is VERY good; shifts are fast, comparable to a dual clutch (and can be made even faster with tuning), and downshifts are revmatched.

Search on here -- reviews on the auto from drivers and reviewers are very positive.

Also, no difference in drivetrain loss between AT and MT, verified on numerous dynos, and in 0-60 and 1/4 mile tests, the auto is actually a bit quicker (by about .1 sec).

Test drive both and see which one you like best.

All sticks are a challenge as a first car. My first was a column shift 3 speed (okay, this is showing my age) Chevy as it was my Dad's station wagon. No torque/power, weird clutch, long throws......huge heavy car.

Was a b**** from a stop trying to get it to go up a hill. The Z in comparison is so much easier.

Will you be smooth from the start? No

Will you kill the car? Yes

Will you learn? Yes

Will you get proficient at it? Yes

I say, Just Do It (wish I knew how to draw the Nike Swoosh)!

And if you want to make it easier, use search function & check for clutch spring helper or you can buy that RJM clutch pedal (please correct me if I'm wrong on the name of the pedal).

If you want a driver's car, there are much better options than a 370Z.

The thing than many folks seem not to grasp is that test track #'s don't even begin to scratch the surface when it comes to evaluating how good to drive a sports car is.

You don't even need to spend over 30K to get a better driver's car than the Z.

1.) MX-5 Miata NC2 (2009 and up) is Worlds better to drive than a 370z.
2.) BRZ / FR-S also Worlds better to drive than a 370z.

You don't have to take my word for it just read the reviews and take a test drive yourself. Don't waste your money on a car that is simply faster out of ignorance.

Many people do this and regret it. If they don't opening regret it they get highly defensive about the subject trying to defend their large purchase. Nobody likes to admit they blew a bunch a money a on crappy car.

You'd have to spend up to ~ 55K on a new Porsche Boxster / Cayman to get a car nearly as fun / rewarding to drive as the new MX-5, BRZ / FR-S.

Oh and BTW, the 370z is no Porsche Cayman, not even close. The 09' Cayman S for one blows the doors off the 370z and more importantly there's absolutely no comparison as to which is more fun / rewarding to drive. But you don't have to get a Cayman S as the base 265hp Cayman is just as well Worlds better to drive than a 370z.

Anyways, I have no doubt you'd love the cars I suggested unless perhaps you were born with an inadequate genitalia and feel you need to prove something. Get what makes "you" happy not what you think will somehow impress others of low intellect.

Where is this coming from?

The guy asked about the 370Z on a 370Z forum from 370Z owners -- not a recommendation on a range of other cars from a random overly defensive guy

Miata? really? I guess I never thought that people actually wanted that car.

BRZ/FR-S. Very nice looking cars. Too bad they have prius tires on them stock, and at 200hp feel underpowered.

I think you're saying its not just power, its about the ride too... I agree. I'd throw the new 2013 Honda Accord v-6 into that mix too. Good power and fast pace, not winning any championships, but great ride for the buck.

Those cars above kick the *** out of a Lambo or Ferrari too. Those suckers just aren't comfortable.

I have had massive loads of fun in my 370z in my two years of ownership. Have pushed this car on the road and at the track, and it's immensely fun. I don't understand how folks can have a bad experience with the car. I mean, it happens enough. There are plenty of people who dog it or who get buyer's remorse, or who have genuine issues (lemons). I just don't know how it gets to that point. Everyone has their own experiences. I could have bought a Miata, and I know how fun they are. My dad owned one. But I wanted something more powerful. The FT86 twins are also cool cars, but still not really fast enough for my liking. The Cayman is just ridiculously expensive, especially maintenance after warranty. But to each their own.

I've enjoyed every day of ownership with this car. Guess I'm just the outlier?
