That car is still going very strong. Once again, Hyundai cars for that last 10 years has been manufacturing great cars, I would even say better than American cars. |
Where are these made, America, or Korea?

I saw the back of a black Genesis coupe today with dealer tags on it. It actually resembled a G37 to me.

I wouldn't even think of buying one, especially if it's imported from Korea.

^^ Toyota has some in the States/Canada
I'm not sure if Nissan has one here.......... some Chevy cars were actually made by Daewoo |
I had to look it up, and I was surprised:
Nissan North America - U.S. Manufacturing Nissan has three production plants in the United States - in Smyrna and Decherd, Tennessee, and Canton, Mississippi. Production at Nissan's Smyrna Plant began in June 1983. The vehicle assembly plant has an annual production capacity of 550,000 vehicles and represents a capital investment of $2.5 billion. The plant produces the Nissan Altima, Nissan Maxima, Nissan Xterra, Nissan Frontier and Nissan Pathfinder. The vehicle assembly plant in Canton, Mississippi, began producing vehicles in May 2003. The $1.4 billion plant now produces the Nissan Altima, Nissan Quest, Nissan Armada, Nissan Titan and Infiniti QX56. The plant has an annual production capacity of 400,000 vehicles. Rofl Hyundai's ads during the superbowl were brilliant.
Hyundai's Angry Bosses superbowl spot: YouTube - Hyundai Super Bowl XLIII Commercial: Angry Bosses The Genesis Coupe would've been good but they aired this one during the kickoff show: YouTube - Hyundai Genesis Coupe Epic Lap Commercial This is a great looking car for 20k. And someone on gencoupe posted that it hits 360hp with ECU off, intake/exhaust, and premium fuel. That's the 25k V6, of course. Prices are just estimates based on korea's and canada's pricing so far. http://www.gencoupe.com/general-disc...no-graphs.html http://bkmania.com/bbs/data/bk_gallery/LSM_8784_1.jpg |

The genesis looks really nice. Is it rear wheel drive and has a 6sp?
I wonder are the specs. |
It's a rear wheel drive with 306hphttp://www.leftlanenews.com/hyundai-genesis-coupe.html
|
The Genesis doesn't look half bad and the specs are pretty good for the price. I definitely agree with the comment that was stated earlier about this vehicle outshining the Civic Si. The 4B11 is a solid engine and can push out some impressive numbers. Keep in mind that most members on this forum are here for a reason and most of us love the Z. Asking for an opinion about any other car besides a Z you're in for A LOT of different mixed opinions and feelings.

Another site that has a picture of the Genesis. Someone took a picture of it at the San Jose auto show. StreetFire.net - Next Hyundai Equus is one angry stallion
Here's a little story I would like to tell ya'll. Since were on the topic of hyundai cars. Hyundai did come a long way. Very long way. I remember about 13yrs ago my buddy had an excel. Let me tell you how much of a piece of **** that car was. A car almost pulled out on the side of us, my buddy swerved to the left and tried to correct him self, but all of sudden the car flipped on its side (my side). We almost rolled over. It was pretty crazy. I'm surprised those cars passed any safety inspections or even made it to the states. Any how when this car comes out i may have to take a test drive and see how it compares to the Z |
Yes, if I were in any shape to get a new car, I would definitely test-drive a Genesis coupe among the other contenders. Certainly I would attempt to drive the Genesis and the 370Z on the same day.

it is still a Hyundai... I have owned 2 Hyundai and they both are horrible in the reliability department. 10 yr warranty does not cut how bad these things are. so no matter what they say they put on the car, it still looks like a streamlined tiburon, with the quality of a piece of cardboard used to haul rocks.
|
^^^ the bad rep still continues to bog them down
|
Slightly OT, but what do you guys think of their 'If you finance or lease a new Hyundai and lose your income within the first year, we'll let you return the car' promotion? Do you get your payments back? I don't think so. So really, are they saying anything more than 'If you lose your job, we'll let you voluntarily bring the car back to us instead of sending the repo man to seize it'? Gee, thanks. :ugh2:
Well, I think they leave your credit rating alone too, so I guess that's something. |

04 tiburon, 06 santa fe.
santa fe, interior fell apart literally, had to replace the rear axles, for no apparent reason, within 6 months, doors began to sag, and never really closed. the tiburon, seized box at 5,100 miles. according to the dealer, yeah there was enough oil, and it was not your driving habit, it just happened. "can this happen again" could be. the thing seized in 5th gear, while i was i driving in 3rd. same complaint about the interior. after 2 years, the thing had 75% the power it has when new. no no no, i am done with hyundai's for life. if you have had good things with them good for you and hopefully you keep having good ones, as for me no more class "c" brand cars. |
Hey guys,
I've been lurking around the forum reading about the 370z and I figured I'd add to this discussion. I recently returned from South Korea about a month ago and spoke to people living there who have done hands on reviews of the car. I have not heard one person who had hands on experience with the car(who was knowledgeable) that enjoyed the car completely. Now don't get me wrong for the money it may be a great buy. To get down to it...They told me the shifts were far from smooth, there was excess noise coming from the windshield while driving, the smaller engine was not powerful but the larger engine felt too much for the cars platform to control. They drove both the automatic and manual. When working with the auto they tried to drive tiptronic but the car still shifted for them and shifting times were very off. The thing I thought the most amazing was the brembo's. They weren't really sure why but the brembo breaks were shaven down on the sides. They thought it might have been done to reduce noise?(no clue). Also, many drivers in South Korea favor a soft suspension...And it was said that the Genesis also has too soft of a suspension. Now keep in mind the person who reviewed the car...The auto version was given by Hyundai to review and then he borrowed a friends manual to test. This was done by a website that reviews cars online in Korea. I hope I was able to add to the discussion. |

Anyway, many manufacturers have had issues throughout history. I know Hyundai will some day be a "socially acceptable" brand here in the U.S. It may be a little while, but they'll get there. |
Someone at gencoupe got 360hp from a V6 by just turning off ECU limiter, intake & exhaust, and premium fuel.
With prices estimated at 20k for I4 and 25k for V6, there's a good chance it'll steal the spotlight from the 370z as far as bang for buck performance goes. http://bkmania.com/bbs/data/bk_gallery/LSM_8784_1.jpg |
itd be hard to say thats ugly... ^ lol and if thats true.. im gonna be pissed! lol
|
I don't want to call shenanigans on that, but it's a little hard to believe.
|
it looks good in that pic, walk around to the front and snap a shot........that's when the Ugliness hits you............

Would you honestly want to say, "I own a Hyundai"! |

but you are right. it does resemble a penis shape. i guess they did not see that when designing the car. i think they both look nice. i heard somewhere that the transmission on the hyundai was pretty good, something called ZF (please pardon my car lingual). but i can see why it's attractive. the price point is pretty good for a coupe and it does have have horsepower, just not as much as the Z. |
Someone did a half a%^ job on the paint on the flat back penis car. They left the door jams white. :stirthepot:
