^^ which part of the car stands out to you the most?? that you like
|
profile is nice as well as the a$$ end i like
|
the tail light design grabs your attention
|
While most of the enthusiast on this site will say the genesis is not competition, the general public will probably prove that the genesis will be a strong competitor with its low pricepoint. Remember that competition is a good thing, it forces car makers to make higher quality cars for less money.
|
saw it in the soeul airport it do look nice and the bbk is mean looking on it.
|
^^ did it look good, like good build, solid stuff or like the predecessor Tiburon..lol
|
looked solid I could not get in ti but it looked really good and that surprised me.
|
^^ so Hyundai is making a statement, but they still have a major hangover of bad rep
|
give them 5-8 more years they will be making top notch cars.
|
^^ think Hyundai will still a hangover by then??
|
I can appreciate the Genesis, I would take a look at it if I wasn't really into cars and wanted something with some pep at a good price.
I am not a fan of the design on this car, though I do think it has a lot of potential and could have looked a lot better with a few tweaks. As an enthusiast though, it is not on my short list of options. Give Hyundai some time and I think they will keep improving. |
I know Modified Made this their Main feature for the January issue. Interesting that Rhys Millen went with the F/I 4 cyl.

Hyundai Genesis Coupe info thread (Z competitor?)
Since it will be a competitor to the 370z
Figured I put up some information on it. Dynojet numbers are stock: V6 http://pross21.com/pds/bk38dyno.gif Turbocharged i4 http://pross21.com/pds/bk20_normaldyno.gif Some Pics http://lh6.ggpht.com/_DmVaQS5VCdc/SU...y_ext-2_rd.jpg http://lh4.ggpht.com/_DmVaQS5VCdc/SU...d_ext-3_rd.jpg http://lh6.ggpht.com/_DmVaQS5VCdc/SU...e_ext-2_rd.jpg A Initial Impression Review First initial forum first impressions of NG coupe. - NewGenesisCoupe.com Genesis with Garrett GT30 Genesis with Garrett GT30R and more..... - NewGenesisCoupe.com MSRP is suppose to be 23k-29k according to Motor Trend but I havent found anything confirmed. My Quick opinion from looks I like it but think it will age really quickly especially with a price range like that I could see it being a very common car. Discuss!! |
This car is already released in Korea, and I have seen some pics of them modified already. Will deffinitely be a good tuning platform.

Wow +1 Slidefox
I must say with some wheels and a drop that car looks quite good. I think that thing will be really popular here! |

This is still my favorite shot I've seen of the Genesis,...its still a Hyundai. http://i134.photobucket.com/albums/q.../_DSC_0090.jpg |

Although I have to agree it's an awesome-looking and powerful car, not to mention a good tuning platform, I do not see myself spending 35-45k on a G37 look-alike, much less on a Hyundai. Sorry, but I'd be caught dead running around in a Hyundai no matter how awesome they're becoming.
|
Coming from a Euro-centric background (my '94 Miata was/is my first non-Euro car, and I made it to age 34, three years ago, before buying that) I just don't have the hang-ups about which brand, or whether it is Korean or Japanese, or whatever. To be fair, all of my friends will think I've gone nuts if I buy anything other than a German car (they don't respect the many years I spent with Alfas I guess), so peer pressure is the same (and ignored, thanks) regardless.
I think the Genesis is a great-looking car, and the tuners will have a lot of fun with them. They should get awfully mean on the track when stripped out, too. BUT Somehow it's still not for me. It's still lesser than other cars I could spend my future dollars on. Maybe it is the economy brand specter, after all. Or maybe the engineer in me still sees the 370Z as the superior car (not to mention even better-looking). I'd enjoy driving around in a Genesis. But I will, someday, cherish my 370Z. <script src="http://shots.snap.com//client/inject.js?site_name=0" type="text/javascript"></script> |
I like it, except for the grill. But I'm sure the aftermarket will come out with something better looking.

I just realized that thing doesn't look THAT bad with some mods....if it had an infiniti badge on it...it would sell like hotcakes...
|
^^^ agreed

I don't get why you guys are bashing? Whenever bimmer owners try to belittle you and say "it's just a nissan" you get mad and say their ignorant and what not yet you are doing the same thing right now.. Nissan tries so hard to be like bmw/porsche.. just like Hyundai is trying hard to be like Nissan/Infiniti. If they don't set a benchmark to compete with, how will they ever get a better rep?
|
I think it comes down to looks, stock speed, rarity, and future value...
Same situation (on a higher scale) with a Viper...Buy a Viper Coupe for around $90,000 or buy a Z06 for around $65,000 and spend about $8,000 to make it quicker...No matter what the Viper will be worth more and less rare in 10 years. When it comes down to it, I think the 370z will easily turn more heads then any Hyundai ever will. Not to mention they (just a guess) will be less 370z's on the road then the Genesis. |

The company has come a long way and is making more and more reliable cars. I would definitely buy the Genesis coupe if I wasn't in the market for higher-end sports cars such as the Z or G37. The Genesis coupe will definitely be a lot of bang for the buck if you can get over the Hyundai tag. Any company that can get Brembo and ZF to specially design parts for their cars is definitely up-and-coming. The Genesis coupe is an impressive car and those that fail to accept this don't know their ****. There was a time where I would say I would never drive a Nissan (because of Datsun) and now, I'm in the market for one. There are rumors of Hyundai preparing to release a luxury brand some time in the next couple of years. I will definitely be looking into it when and if that brand comes out though I think the timing couldn't be any more awful. |
Saw the Coupe in Inchon airport it will turn heads too. Hyundai still has a few more years before they get my vote though, but it is coming.
