So if a guy loves Camry's? He expects the z to have 6 cup-holders. If he loves Cadillac's...Why doesn't the z have 12 memory power seats? If he loves Mustangs... Why can't the Z have a V8... This isn't car reviewing.

Are they basing a car on its talents or your bias interpretation of a sports car. It's ok for a reviewer to express his preferences in order for the consumer to relate to the driver and understand why he would prefer a, lets say, "Mustang" over a Z. But it's another to compare the cars as if they serve the same performance purpose, when they don't.

At least mustang has camaro and challenger to show up. The genesis coupe can go 10k upmarket and battle the G37 and 3 series. In a way, the 2.0 and FR-S doesn't match but makes more sense due to them being priced equally and both being RWD 4 seat coupes.
The Z has no competitor in its class and can only be compared the Porsche Cayman S, Boxster and BMW Z4 over $20k upmarket, double what the gencoupe deals with.... They can say the others are more refined but can't say they outperform the Z. So the Z needs to be underdogged by near non-competitors in order to keep the corporate sponsors happy. The Z is too unique in its price-point and other car companies are to scared to make a real competitor. Imagine GM's version of a Z? Or ford? Dodge maybe? lol.

The vette is something else... Japanese couldn't make a vette... Americans can't build a Z. And you can't review them like they are one of the same. BUT that's what american/british magazines do.

WE NEED TO GET CAR GUYS BACK IN THE CAR MAGS.
Well said.

Eh, I agree to some extent, and I'd even throw in the Audi TT with that group, but make no mistake, stock-for-stock, a Cayman will most likely best a Z on any track.

R&T pretty much got around that track around the same time with a slight edge on the cayman... like .03 or something. thats not owning a Z bruh. and the audi TT is FWD/AWD, so i am not throwing it in. The TT has more of a place with EVO/STi/335ix

The Z is not demonstratively faster than the cayman "bruh". It's about equal. It's not faster, though, and I'll bet dollars-to-donuts the porsche will best the Z at a track when not being driven by an automotive reporter.

And the Audi can be lumped in. It's a two-seater. Nissan directly compared it when marketing the vehicle initially, so if it's good enough for Nissan, it should be good enough for you.

Heck, if we want to throw up arbitrary times, the Cayman is nearly a second faster on the good ol' Top Gear Test Track.

How do you beat a 35,273 post? Sum up all the cars mentioned won't even come close to top that.

No one said faster ... You're the one who initially said the Z cant beat a cayman on any track. Now you're saying they're equal. All i said was the Z hasn't been outperformed by the competition. Out-finessed would be another point. You're just looking to argue. As far as the audi being good enough for me???
I keep cars in perspective. Maybe Mr. K hates what the Z has become because some execs are trying to do too much with one car? There's no need for the Z to be compared to an FWD/AWD platform. And the only reason the Z dared in 08/09 to make that comparison was because at that time the TT sucked... Now there is the TT-S and TT-RS. nissan ain't saying shyt now right.... Bruh..

I've deleted my contentious posts.

Sorry for the derail.

Back on topic, car mags are good to get an initial idea of a car, but you should go out and look at them yourselves, in fact drive them, if you want to get to know what a vehicle is really all about. The media stopped giving the Z love shortly after '09. In 2009, they were in love with this "performance bargain". And then the Mustang got more hp, a Nismo failed on C&D's lightning lap, and cheap, slow Toyobaru's showed up. It's no longer "chic" to praise the 370z.

Especially if you actually mean stock for stock. Z isn't doing much without an oil cooler....
