Ordered a new 370Z emblem after my attempt to debadge didn't go so well.

Left a mark and the sticky film residue won't come off, so I'm just going to plastidip this and gloss it, then put it back on. :(

Worst decision ever to try and remove it. I tried doing it properly, it just didn't want to work with me.

 Both or just one emblem? I have an extra front emblem for you if you need it.

I just used fishing line. It took a couple of pieces to figure out the best methodology to keep the line from breaking. Also, you live in Phoenix - just wait until the car has been out in the hot sun for several hours and it will be super easy. For the film, you just need some rubbing alcohol (I actually used Goof Off max strength in a spray). It will definitely take some elbow grease, but it will come off eventually.

I left my out in the hot Texas sun for a couple hours than used fishing line. Cleaned it all up with Goo gone. It took my son and I around an hour to remove, clean and install the new badges.

I did end up with a blister on my finger.

Yup. I'm with JARblue and big daddy.

The emblem removal was probably one of the most painstaking mods. More time consuming than my Ark Grip with just two jack stands in my garage, but once I started, I knew there was no looking back. I took my time with a few breaks and a lot of patience.

The emblems themselves came off rather easy after a few hours in the Texas sun. The grey leftover adhesive took at least an hour more for EACH badge, front and rear. I used the max strength goo-gone carefully to only remove the glue while being careful with the paint that would still be exposed (on top and bottom of the original NISSAN logo) with the new emblem. I dabbed a soaked paper towel with the goo-gone onto the grey leftover adhesive and slowly used both my fingertips and a small, sharp, plastic trim removal tool to work it off.

Lots of paper towels, three blisters on the tips of my fingers, a drenched tshirt from lots of elbow grease and working under the Texas sun, I'm finally happy with the results.

On my way to the track I encountered a Lotus all made up with numbers etc., so we rolled down the passenger side window to talk to the driver and he would have nothing to do with us. Fine.

I later saw him at the track and asked him if he had seen us. He said yes but thought I wanted to race him on the freeway like all those other idiots. To me this is funny.

Charlotte is fairly close to some good mountain roads and Raleigh isn't too far from the beach. I haven't spent much time in Raleigh but I've heard great things from those that live there. Seems like working at DUH (lol) would be a better option based on name alone.

I drove my Z for the first time in a week. Had travel to Vegas this week (boo), Caesar's could've used a few Z's parked out front, their car lineup was weak.

Wife is in Hawaii enjoying time with her girlfriends so I'm doing my own thing with the Z this week -- all by my lonely self. I just drove mindlessly in 80 degree weather and enjoyed the sh!t out of the car.

I took a look at my 370 and 240 Z's -- both under their covers -- at about 345 AM this morning. Then I flew to Minnesota. Now I have a rental car. It's an Altima. I weep for it when I think about what it shall endure in my hands this week.

Read some reviews online about more accurate tire gauges and decided to pickup this bad boy.

Wow my stupid Slime one was reporting 5 PSI under what the pressure actually was

Thinking about ordering the AFE intake, any reason why I shouldn't?
http://afepower.com/catalog/TA-3017P/TA-3017P_400.jpg

Also debating whether or not I should install an oil cooler while the front end is off... My oil temps usually hover around 210-220 during street driving.

Why this one and not the Stillen Gen 3?

Also, your temps seem very good to me.

Turns out my buddy has a dremel so I'll being doing the SPC rear camber arm and toe bolt install on Thursday, aligned again on Friday and hopefully some cruising fun this weekend. Short work week for me and the wife is working all weekend so I'm looking forward to wrenching on the Z and DD

I like the idea of not having to modify compared to the Stillens.

Simple mod but a pain too.

Will these tubes and filter get in the way of any future modifications, such as an oil cooler?

I don't believe so.

hey nick. :hello:

is it okay for the tubes to be connected like that? i would rather give the tubes some freedom (separate) as it's not like they dont vibrate.

you got folks severing that plastic elbow using the gen3... that's a lot of movement.

kenchan 05-12-2014 09:35 AM

i would just do the post-maf tubes and k&n drop ins.... no fuss

onzedge 05-12-2014 09:38 AM

We installed my Stillen Gen 3's without any issues. Opening up the holes in which the tubes pass was very easy. We also took some sections of subbed heater hose, slit them and then installed around the openings for little cushions. The tubes rest nicely ion their little pillows.

I've thought about this in the past, but felt there was a sizable difference between the MAF's/dropins vs a long tube CAI?

from the read the gen3's offer a big improvement over stock. but it also has its issues unless you're not careful.

for me, i didnt feel like messing with the issues so did the post-maf and drop ins. it breaths better than stock near redline so im happy. my car use to feel like it was gasping for air up top using stock intake. i dont race my car so this is a simple worry-free setup for me. :D

So you feel a difference on the top end? This is what I was looking for... Any sound difference?

yah, engine revs feely to rev limiter.

no sound difference that i could tell...which to me is also a plus. :)

I remember people in the past were experimenting with dry filters vs the k&n. Are the K&N's still the way to go? And Z1 tubes or HPS tubes?
