Why did you get a new motor? Was it oil consumption?

It lost compression is what they told me, whatever it was i had an extremely loud knocking coming from the engine. But now I have a great new motor. :driving:

Riptide67 10-03-2013 06:41 PM

Finally had a semi nice day with no rain. Washed my lady and hit her with some Meguiar's black detailer.

Installed new exhaust, no name brand CNT. Great clearance, well put together and much quieter than my old CF cans.. No more scraping :) at a good price..

That's a good looking lower tie bar.

I would just use the Griot's Speed Shine. The Meguiar's stuff is garbage, not enough lubricity to it. Of the Meguiar's products, I only use their Mirror Glaze line in tan bottles.
Have fun!

Waiz 10-04-2013 12:26 AM

Got home, removed my cover and cleaned my windows and realized my tires were all at 31psi so I took a little drive to the gas station and filled them back to 35psi

I had a few spirited accelerations, felt good to open her up after not driving her since Monday

The drive is about an hour. I will have bugs on the nose for sure. No want bugs on Harry! Griots speed shine for bugs and general clean up?

DavidInIndy 10-04-2013 08:12 AM

I actually didn't think this was very noteworthy, but now that the warm days are almost gone here in Indy, I realized that I'm about to miss my favorite daily routine, which is:
  1. Put the top down.
  2. Put a great song on.
  3. And then take the outside lanes so I can kick everybody's a$$ in these:

Yes, I can still do this with the top up, but it's not nearly as much fun when I pass all the car zombies in the inside lane while doing this: :hello:

:iagree: meguiar's maroon bottle QD is only good for claybar at best. :icon17:

the only meguiar's i use is their tire shine and scratchx2.0.

yep. if you have grit kickup (like after driving through a puddle) i suggest the SprayOn CarWash. SUPER lubricity.

SprayOn Wax is great to keep the surface slick on the front too, cleaning wheel arches, inside splash guards (side that gets the beating). i clean those areas as well during QD. :)

but most of the car i use SpeedShine.

Yeah you can clay with it, you can do a quick wipe down after being caught in the rain... Your towel of choice of course matters too. I swear by the stuff and I THINK its only around $34 a gallon. I use it always when just doing a pressure wash, wash. When drying the car I spray a good amount of it on the paint and then dry with a Waffle weave towel. No marring under an LED flashlight lol. I am not a big Griots fan. Not because it doesnt work but because of their markup :D

*Edit* This stuff is slick as snot :icon17:

I use the same product. Purchased the gallon size ~3 years ago. There's still 3/4 left in the jug. Great product.

I have 3 gallons left! It can be watered down to be a GREAT QD or full strength as a wash. Good stuff.

I do not have any sprayon car wash on hand so i guess the Griots will have to do today ...

And madwo/davenue: where do i get the stuff you guys are recommending?

JARblue 10-05-2013 09:27 AM

This morning I took my console apart again to replace the small rubber boot in my shifter assembly. When I originally installed my shift knob, I think the boot got rotated somehow. When I installed my short shifter last week, the boot was tore up pretty good after over a year of driving. So I ordered a replacement one ($15) last week, picked it up Thursday, and just finished installing it

Optimum No Rinse - I bought it through Amazon with some extras like MF towels and wash bone

I cleaned my Gen III air filters for the first time in 5 months and not as bad as my altimas in 3 months. I also removed my cubby door in preps for a new CF job.

Went and got baseline dyno done. Will post screenshot of the graphs in a bit but on a Dynojet, no mods on my Nismo, 4 pulls, no tuning: 303 hp, 269 tq

Was plesantly surprised, really only anticipated 285-290.

303/269 good or was I unfairly pessimistic?

I think those are fairly normal numbers for DynoJet. The 280's are typical of the Mustang Dyno.

Got the brakes and clutch bled today. The fluid that came out of the clutch was black... guess it's boiled a few times....

Someone should come clean my Z for me, I hate cleaning. Rofl.

This is a crappy picture of the printoff but will get better posted when they send over the file. They were closing up shortly after I left so they are probably sending over Monday.

I was driving on the Mass pike today doing about 85..okay the speed limit is 65..slight mistake on my part..

Suddenly i heard a strange noise in the car..one I was not familiar with,,My wife asked, "What is that?" and I looked at the detector and it read "LASER"

I remembered what someone told me a few months back,,they have to take two readings before they can nail you.. I hit the breaks and dropped to 60 as the detector stopped for a second and then started up again....Two hits.. But i was going 60 for the second attack..

Saw the bogie hidden ahead on the right and behind some bushes...he did not chase me..

I am one happy and lucky bastard! He would have nailed me and my wife would have joined in my de-nuttification.

Pintsize725 10-05-2013 08:03 PM

Got told it was "a badass car" when I picked up dinner.

edconline 10-05-2013 08:40 PM

Finally finished the 5 day paint correction/detail I had been working on! (Pics to follow, tomorrow)

Fountainhead 10-05-2013 09:18 PM

Washed it, and found a few more rock dings, a new bird poop stain (must have been stomach acid), stained the paint :), and kind of got depressed at all the DD BS my car has been thru since I bought it.
When I got it was flawless, a garage queen. Now it's a scarred adventurer!
