That very much sucks.

Happened to me off me 350 a few years ago. However, stock tires and wheels cost $4k and I only paid $2,500 for the set. I made out like a bandit....

enkei2k 08-14-2012 08:21 AM

sucks. really close to home too.

No wheel locks? I mean, I guess even with, it wouldn't matter much, but every little bit helps.

I had all 20 lug locks from Nissan... =\

nepali 08-14-2012 09:23 AM

That sucks! :(

red6spd 08-14-2012 09:23 AM

Sorry to hear man.

kenchan 08-14-2012 09:30 AM

sorry to hear. get tilt sensor aftermarket alarm if you are going to be parking outdoors often.

Mt Tam I am 08-14-2012 09:34 AM

Awful. String 'em up

robones 08-14-2012 09:43 AM

Sorry to hear that man!! ;(

But hey, I like your pin stripes though :)

B&W_Evader 08-14-2012 09:46 AM

How common is this? and... What other cars do the Z wheels fit on?

Are there low-lifes with older 350s taking them or is it our fellow 370Z owners?

Also, how about mix and match wheel locks. 5 different brands so they can't just go to the dealer and get a set with the right key?

shadoquad 08-14-2012 09:51 AM

This is common. These are very attractive stock wheels, so they'll find a home on the black market pretty quickly.

w0rM 08-14-2012 09:54 AM

I hope they catch them and stab them in the eyes.

kenchan 08-14-2012 09:55 AM

yep, factory wheels are expensive too if you buy new.

i think TL and Maxima (some Altima) folks are also getting just the rears or fronts non-staggered. might want to check craig's list for local sale. you might find your set.

zeexu 08-14-2012 09:57 AM

Update: 10:40AM 109 Police station called and told me they found (1) of them that was involved from finger print... they want me to go to the station to verify if I know this mexican guy.. -.-

ddot196 08-14-2012 09:59 AM

Nice man! U got some good police there. I'd be extra pissed off.

MattP725 08-14-2012 10:00 AM

Wait... they found just 1 of the wheels? Was the guy walking down the street with it?

Huck 08-14-2012 10:04 AM

Nice to hear! It would be funny if you could be like "hell yeah I know that guy! He's the same guy that robbed me at gun point two weeks ago! And I think he's the same guy that tried to sell my son drugs too!" Nail him for a whole bunch of other shyte, just to teach him a lesson.

Sent from my iPizzle using magic and new-fangled science stuff

robones 08-14-2012 10:06 AM

I hope they deport that motha fletcher!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Be super mean looking when you get there... slam your fists on all the desks you see at the station.

onzedge 08-14-2012 10:09 AM

It takes a special kind of genius to commit a theft without gloves. It is sheer brilliance. Maybe he forgot he had a record.

Trips 08-14-2012 10:12 AM

Bastards!!

Sorry to see this :(

It's been a while since this has happened to a member in here since there was a rash of folks getting their wheels stolen some time back.

Personally I would get the ins check and look into aftermarket wheels with locks of course :)

I would also make sure the ins knows so if they get ripped off they get replaced.

Cmike2780 08-14-2012 10:22 AM

It's kind of awesome that they caught the guy.

enkei2k 08-14-2012 10:22 AM

Lucky you man, I had my Volks stolen from me 4 years ago and they (police) didn't give a crap about my rims since they stole the whole car from me and stripped it down (gone were the rims, seats, stereo). They said, "as long as you got the car back (pretty much just a shell), that's all that matters."

I really doubt you'll know the guy, but it's really awesome hearing you getting one step closer to getting them back.

Keep us updated!

kfull 08-14-2012 10:27 AM

Sorry man, I hope you get the rest of you wheels back. I just purchased a viper alarm system with a tilt sensor because of pictures like these I've seen on the forums.

anthonyy 08-14-2012 10:45 AM

sorry to hear that. Glad you took the right steps and contacted the police first.

Haboob 08-14-2012 10:46 AM

Wow, your police are awesome.

When mine got stolen back in '02 from my car at that time, I asked them to take finger prints and they said, "No. It won't help, we won't catch them anyways." verbatim.

Come to find out I saw them on someone's car a week later and it was a kid I went to HS with. Too bad I couldn't prove 100% that they were mine, but word around was that they were.

kenchan 08-14-2012 10:47 AM

wow, to police. hope you get your wheels back!

HDyoyo 08-14-2012 11:17 AM

NYBladeZ 08-14-2012 11:32 AM

I like to think that the NYPD is cracking down on this issue. There have been some published arrests within the past year in the Queens area but it seems every time they bust one ring another fills its place. Note to all NYC and Queens Z drivers, get some diesel wheel locks or park it on secured private property.

jae35 08-14-2012 11:37 AM

holyhell that's awesome..most cops don't even put in the effort to dust for prints. Either way those wheels replaced by insurance will cut you a check that can buy volks with change left over lol

zeexu 08-14-2012 11:53 AM

Update: Just got out of the 109 police station. I dont know this clown. He is telling the police he saw my sportscar and was just touching it. (i call BS). Luckily theres a school camera that was pointing at where I parked my car and they are downloading the tape at the moment. Have to go back to the station to get the report. Should i report this to my insurance company? would this raise my insurance?

I cannot tell you on the internet what I would do to the guy that just "touched " your car..

NYBladeZ 08-14-2012 11:58 AM

If you don't have a high deductible I would report it to my insurance company unless you want to pay for new wheels, tires and any body damage out of pocket. Whether or not it raises your insurance rates depends on the insurance company and the totality of factors.

You never bring another person into the loop....Vengence is always served cold, and no one is told what you feel or do...Also it is done solo, so no one can talk about it later, and you leave your cell phone miles away so as not to be tracked later.

And no I am not kidding...
