And no I am not kidding...

Correct. I learned these fundamentals in the Paying People Back 101 class I took when a freshman many years ago.

Luckily theres a school camera that was pointing at where I parked my car and they are downloading the tape at the moment. Have to go back to the station to get the report. Should i report this to my insurance company? would this raise my insurance?

absolutely you should report it and i don't think they can raise your premium because of this. worst case scenario, you pay $500 to get them to write you a check for $4000 to replace the wheels, then find a nice set of aftermarket wheels or used OEM's for less and keep the change

kenchan 08-14-2012 01:03 PM

yah, definitely report to your insurance company. wheels should be covered under comprehensive, if im not mistaken.

HDyoyo 08-14-2012 01:42 PM

LOL:shakes head: thats why I said Jk JK:tup:

new wheals FTW:tup: turns a bad situation into a good one!

Thechidz 08-14-2012 01:55 PM

at least you're covered under insurance. My murano was busted into in NYC and the scum took thousands of $$$ worth of stuff including a hand built classical guitar  insurance didnt cover it

Nice thing about this is that the 370z is a pretty unique car. It could quite possible be the stolen set.

kenchan 08-14-2012 02:38 PM

i think im going to etch my name in my wheels when i take them off next time.

RyanWest 08-14-2012 02:41 PM

:confused: OMG-now I am really hesitant to even drive mine anywhere near a city...ugh.:shakes head:
Amazing having a Z because it's beautiful and hot
Unamazing because people want to rip you off and destroy what is yours and what is beautiful and hot. :(

The OP thought the same thing. He had lock lugs all around.

probably the OEM locks though, not the aftermarket ones. those are harder to come by though the "pro" thieves probably have them too. just like a locked door on your house, the lock only keeps honest people honest.

Thechidz 08-14-2012 03:50 PM

do wheels have any identifier number or anything? I would imagine they do but are probably near impossible to trace, same thing with tires

no idea... probably only datecode stamp or something at best somewhere.

at least if you etch it in, they will have to scratch it out and you know something's up.

ERZperformance 08-14-2012 03:57 PM

Wow... sorry to hear that. Didn't think people are still doing this anymore. I remember someone stole my center cap from my momo rims long time ago.

Yea.. it is going to be impossible to trace becase either this guy will be using it for his own use to sell them on ebay.

better to use a distinct ID number so it's not so obvious to the bad guys. they are more likely to think it's factory marking and leave it alone. Had my jeep wheels and tires stolen when i was 18 (when 32" rubber was HUGE) and eventually caught the guy but could not prove it. A unique ID marked on the inner barrel of the wheel WOULD have proven their origin.

slynx 08-14-2012 04:07 PM

Damn dude I'm in flushing and very conscious about parking on the street. Update if you catch them.

Damn this the only reason why im glad i left NYC. If you notice? Every z on here with stolen rims live in the 5 boroughs, long island or north nj. You cant have shyt out there. And god forbid you shoot em if you caught em. you do 10 to 15. No property defense allowed. then you get sued by the crook and or his family. they win. he'stealing again while you're in jail for shooting a thief and giving him a physical defect.
Oh and don't forget all the profiling (stop &frisk) even though you're a law abiding legit citizen before you got robbed.

"Guns don't kill people. the nypd & bloomberg kill people." That 3 time, unconstitutionally elected fascist pig.

Sorry that happened OP.

PS... forget about recovering the rims. NYPD DGAF about your rims. Not unless there's a school teacher to rape or a black boy to shoot sitting on top of them. collect from the insurance, find a garage or buy multiple wheel locks.

zeexu 08-14-2012 04:30 PM

Update: It looks like im not the only one that was robbed last night... Some dude with Blue Z370 near queens college got hes whole car towed from hes driveway. If you guys live in flushing area dont park your Z outside.DONT even park it in the driveway, park it in the garage!
I've already reported to my insurance company. Sent in photo and everything.. Wonder how long the wait is gonna be -.- atlest i still have my car...

slynx 08-14-2012 04:41 PM

zeexu, did you have wheels locks on your z? slynxx and i are in the flushing area and we both just got locks.

Locking lugs don't stop real thieves from getting the wheels, and they make things hard enough for the punk thieves (wanna-be's), that they make a total mess of your wheels and leave in frustration. Both situations suck.

20 lug all locked.

doink 08-14-2012 05:49 PM

Dam. It makes me want to etch the vin numbers on the inside of the rims so it would be harder for them to sell and eaiser for you to prove its yours if ever found.

Any suggestions on 3rd party wheel locks that will fit?

Thechidz 08-14-2012 05:56 PM

How did you end up getting the car home?

CrownR426 08-14-2012 06:15 PM

Sure is a shitty feeling waking up to that.
I feel your pain...
Happened to me last summer.
Never will forget the horrid experience..
