Plastidip has a purpose. I haven't seen anyone do it to where it pulled the paint off, but I have managed to spray the material off with a high pressure washer at a car wash, so I can only imagine it's not very durable in the long term for an entire vehicle.

Vinyl is a lot more expensive than most people seem to think... Either way, I'd learn to love the car the way it is.

Pretty good business idea if you ask me but I personally would never do my car.

I did my wheels in white and from my experience I wouldn't recommend the whole car in white. The white sprays on really thin so you would have to do a sh*t load of coats and it would be a pain in the as$. Plus, white gets dirty fast and it's sorta a bit*h to clean.

Plasti-dip removing your paint? I doubt that. If anything, I feel the plasti-dip will protect your paint. The ONLY way I see plasti-dip removing paint is if the P-D is sprayed on a part of the body that has paint chipping/cracked already.

So I agree that you might want to own a z first and then think about plastidip second. I don't know why you would buy a brand new car in one color just to plastidip it in another color. This might be something you might want to try after having the car for a couple years. Either way, the guy on YouTube actually sells a pre-thinned solution and sprayer. I would NEVER attempt this with a bunch of spray cans. Not only would your hand hurt but it would be all kinds of uneven and look terrible. If then go with the gallon can pre thinned and the sprayer. It will take a few coats thinly applied. Then end results I have seen are not too bad. Plus you can peel it off if you don't like it. All that for a couple hundred as opposed to a grand or more for vinyl wrap. IMHO.

Dipyourcar.com

The guy has won car shows with his plastidipped s4.

This thread is uncharacteristically hateful for this forum.

I watched him "paint" a GTI with that crap. I don't know why anyone would do this to a car.

Really? I call it tough love. Comments here will keep him in line from an otherwise questionable decision.
