2013 Prices, You Guessed It, They're Up!

I noticed on the site nissan charges more for automatic transmission now? I don't remember MT vs AT being different in price for my 2010?

AT has always been a little bit more than MT. Even on other cars, trucks, vans, etc...

Hmm. Maybe I am thinking of the 350z? I really recall thinking it was weird they were the same price but this might have been in the 350z days. My dad bought a '04 350z (still has it) and I could have sworn AT/MT were the same and thinking it was weird at the time.

No you must be thinking of another car brand. there was approx a $1300 difference on the Z33.

I'm glad I picked up a 12 model. I was already on the fence about replacing my 350. Another 900+ might have been enough to make me wait another year.

for the most part. Although I think some models were automatics with extra cost for manual. But usually it's extra for auto

Yup, one exception is Infiniti, the G37 6mt is the most expensive model.

That's because it is a luxury car first. So they're selling MT as something 'extra/different', the fun factor to add to the posh factor of infinity.

You can buy a G37 journey auto with sport pkg. the G37 journey with sport looks identical to the manual only G37s down to the G37s badge. It's a huge deception committed by infiniti when they claim a manual only sport. if you add the sport pkg to the journey it will cost you a chunk of change vs a manual sport not including the nav tech package which will cost you extra as well.

hilarious that a 2012 Z starts at 41k in canada, can't wait to see how much the 13 will go for.

USD->CAD rate is 1.02 so i'm quite sure exchange rate has nothing to do with it.

They actually just charge more because they can.

Canadians pay more than Americans for Canadian-made vehicles - Ottawa - CBC News

"Ford Canada spokeswoman Chantel Bowen said the company prices its vehicles to be competitive in the Canadian market and said the actual price may vary.

"Manufacturer's suggested retail prices (MSRPs) in Canada and the U.S. are 'suggested' retail prices. What a customer actually pays for a vehicle is negotiated with the dealer," said Bowen.

Toyota Canada said it is a separate company from Toyota Motor Sales U.S.A. and so prices its vehicles differently.

The price disparity might tempt Canadians to make a run for the border to pick up a new vehicle, but consumer advocate Rob Lamb says most U.S. dealers will not sell to Canadians.

Lamb, the founder of the website Cars without Borders, says U.S. dealers obey orders from the automakers to turn Canadian buyers away.

"If you're a U.S. dealer you're not going to sell a brand-new car to a Canadian and that's it, and if you do you'll lose your licence, you'll be penalized. So dealers across the states are not selling new cars to Canadians," said Lamb.

Ringuette says that's an issue Canada's Competition Bureau should investigate.

The Competition Bureau said in an email response it conducts its investigations confidentially and so would not comment on whether it had received any complaints about anti-competitive practices by car manufacturers or whether it has any investigations on the subject."
