Might be a dumb question: If they didn't put a clear coat would that classify as a matte paint, or are matte paints (such as the new Hyundai Veloster) made

Might be a dumb question: If they didn't put a clear coat would that classify as a matte paint, or are matte paints (such as the new Hyundai Veloster) made to be more durable since it is designed to be applied without clearcoat?

Many white paints are single stage paints. My white CRV is a SS paint as well as my neighbor's Toyota Corrolla. Single stage paints can shine just like a clear coat unless they are made to be matte.

Matte paints aren't durable.

If you as much as rub your finger on it with pressure you'll put a shiny spot on the paint that cannot be undone.

It's such a high-maintenance paint. I wouldn't want it on a car that I DD - people at the grocery store could touch it/rub it and ruin the paint job.

That being said, matte does look good when done on the right car.
