I personally disagree. I have a sliver of my fender showing in my mirror and that gives a reference to where the vehicle is. Without a reference there is no way of knowing with any precision where the objects are. Sure you know there is someone beside you but I need to know exactly where. I find for driving most of my blind spots are not a huge issue as I am constantly looking around the vehicle to see what my environment is and how its changing. That is still too close to the car, which will leave you some blindspot. If you set mirrors as stated in the article you do not need a reference. If you see something in your side mirror you should not be changing lanes. |
