Hope you all had fun. Too tired to read it all, but I guess, you all showed me!
Think of it more like giving you a hard time for rippin into the fairlady name. thats kinda like going on an 03/04 cobra site and making a post that says "so why call these things terminators like that gay movie" then wondering why people get offended. people enjoy the name and heritage of the car. doesnt matter if we've "owned a real fairlady in japan" or anything.

im not hatin, just givin you a hard time for stirrin up the hornets nest.

carry on!

Wow, you're really insecure aren't you? First you try to belittle guys by calling them posers in your first 16 posts... Then you are trying to say that all our lives are meaningless and we have trivial conversations while you're saving damsels in distress and the world??? Lol.

Thanks for giving me a reason to die laughing while pulling your skirt up..

PS come down off your high fairhorse... lmfao!!!!!

I think dudes that go around calling guys posers are insecure, habitual move-fakers that are secretly sexually attracted to Dominic Toretto.

I don't have a Fairlady badge. I'm still not sure if I want it or not? But I respect the fairlady name so much. I know guys do it out of emotional respect for our cars culture and history. The only reason why I'm not sure if id do it is because I really like the 370z plaque as well.

But I'll be damned if I'm gonna label one of our Z guys a poser for loving there cars that much. If they have the fairlady name? Most likely they know the history. Cuz without that knowledge. The name is kinda fruity. But, once you learn the Z story from genesis till today. The name fairlady takes on a whole new meaning. The fruitiness of it becomes non-existant and is replaced bya sense of passion for the car.

The inspiration for the nameplate was the hit musical with that name... speaking for myself: pass. 370Z is fine.

That said, what's in a name?

Fair Lady and later Fairlady - The name given to the first line of sports cars designed and built by Nissan Motors Japan after W.W.II, with the specific intent of being marketed in the USA - 1960.
The name "Fair Lady" was given to the new sports car line by Mr. Katsuji Kawamata, President Of Nissan Motors Japan, after he attended the Broadway Musical "My Fair Lady" while visiting the US in 1958. He felt that the name would invoke an image of beauty for the car - because people would think of the beauty of the music and the leading lady in that Broadway Musical.

I was going to leave this thread alone but feel the need to chime in after this post....

I absolutely HATE the movie My Fair Lady (never seen a Broadway production). It's one of those movies that's very highly rated by the critics, but just sucks as a watchable movie (Citizen Kane would be another like that for me). The only people I've ever met who like My Fair Lady are women and gay men. I simply hate it. Perhaps it's my negative association with the movie that makes me not like the name?

Don't know, but I'm also not one to name my cars after woman (I find naming cars a bit odd myself) or any other proper name for that matter. Cats, dogs, and boats get names. Fairlady sounds like a proper name to me, not a car name.

Now I digress.......but just so you understand why I really don't think I personally like it (but certainly not that anyone cares). I consider myself to be a fairly well rounded male, far from an overly macho male chauvinist; clear minded enough to understand the finer softer side of things. But nor am I homosexual (or against homosexuality; I have had plenty of gay friends over the years, and support gay marriage), but the terms "that's gay" or "oh how gay" etc do have a place within the world of descriptive phrases. I for one think calling a car Fairlady sounds totally gay. The heritage and homage may be totally warranted and very cool from that perspective, but it doesn't stop if from sounding gay, at least to me. That may be totally acceptable to some, and I'm good with that. You can call your car what ever you want.

But as for me, I'll just leave it off and remain nameless. I find it much cooler for my tastes. I even removed the 370Z badging, and replaced the Nissan chrome with just a Z. So Z it is.

lol and +1 for "that's gay" having it's place. A close friend of mine came out when we were younger and all of sudden he decided it was offensive when his brother and I got pissed at video games and used those phrases. So we started calling everything he did "so straight". I think that irked him even more, so he gave up on getting offended, and we were back to yelling homosexual epithets at 150cc Princess in Mario Kart on Super NES.

and of course, there is the quote when Nelson kisses Lisa Simpson. Dolf: You kissed a girl. Jimbo: That is sooo gay.

HI-JACK......

Tried that about 5 times. Not saying it's not a very well made movie or the acting sucks or it's not an important movie and all that etc etc etc. It was the first of it's kind, one that influenced many and continues to influence today. It that regards, its "great."

But the movie itself is long, monotonous and boring. It's just blasé. I don't find it uplifting or depressing at any time. You don't laugh and you don't cry. It has very little to offer in the way of depth or feeling. It's just "there."

Great movie, yes. Good movie, no. There is a difference.

Now back on topic.......
