Today is her last day at her job, and we've got so many events coming up in the next month that the new car has taken a bit of a back seat, which happens to be one of our requirements. It keeps coming up randomly in conversation, though. At this point she's decided to sacrifice on the car for something that's cheaper and more economical (more saving and spending $$$ is always good). We are thinking a $250 lease payment on something around $25K would be ideal. Of course, the accountant is way more fiscally responsible, as everything I suggest hits 30-35K with options and quickly becomes a $400-500 monthly payment. The Acura ILX recently caught her eye, and I had never heard of it. Seems a bit weak imo, but the styling isn't bad, Acura's aren't too bad, and the base model will still be a little more premium than a Honda or something. Any input is always welcome.

hey the ILX is pretty cool, i think. it's using the same chassis as the civic, but boasts more luxury. honestly though, if saving money is the goal i would get something like the new honda accord if honda is the brand of choice...and just keep the payments low. it's not a bad car, just not exciting in any way shape or form. the coupe is a little sportier looking but the sedan imho looks better for the current-gen 4banger versions.

my local honda dealer priced one out for me a while back and came cheaper than a FitSport. lol especially the lease was a great deal. one of the staff at work wanted to get one and had me talk to the usual sales guy at honda.

I agree completely about the 4-door Accords. The lease on the ILX is pretty exceptional right now, as well. Honda isn't necessarily brand of choice, just one of the better ones. I've always thought the Accord is kind of pricey, but that's probably cause I've never looked at anything other than the 6MT versions

haha, yah, the V6 ones are $28-30K territory with some options for sure.
the base sedan 4banger with MT (not sure if MT is still offered) was like $18K, where as a comparable FitSport was $19.5K+

plus if they have sale and lease deals going on, you can get the payments very low. like $3K down <$250 or something for a 39month. i would also check out the Chevy Cruze if you're looking at economy sedans. the cruze has some options to make it look pretty nice.
