I had a slightly different experience on drop when I was driving the bmw where it gave me some serious issues on both F&R cambers, well, rear camber arm and front camber-plate solved the problem but 4-wheel alignment had to be done all the time and the tires were feathered like crazy... :icon14:

Same reason as Mr.gurny stated, I feel the ride is firm enough for DD, no point to stiffen it or lower it for now... :icon17:

hey there, mr.alcheng! my Z's my weekend fun car and i still dont feel necessary to change the suspension. it's one thing to tighten it up to your liking, but another to just drop and stiffen it up for cosmetics. if it's a dressup car, then by all means do wat you want to make the car look nice. or if it's a pos car that needs improvement.

most often, such cars go slower due to skipping tires, discomfort, slower engine rev-up due to larger vibrations, and abs noise during hard braking. will also throw off your yaw control which you can't turn off during throttle up. the Z's stock suspension is more than capable for street and the stance is fine so not worth compromising or spending my time on it.

what really cracks me up are folks that say these things yet they drive around with inferior/junk tires with wrong offset wheels while racing their dropped z aka 'race car' in their heads. lol :rofl2:

not at all, you are in a good operating range.. I sit around 190 when not boosting, and around 200-210 when in boost a lot

omg.. did you contact the city? that kind of stuff should be paid for by the city... I know when I was in Tucson, a few of my airmen had some issues with crappy city roads and the city paid for their repairs...

but I know what you mean.. I have to drive really slow, and at a rediculous angle to get in my drive way

Just dropped my 08 270 6mt/sport off with rob at Z-car garage in San Jose. Installing JWT clutch, dual pop chargers and full Berk HFC and exhaust with an uprev tune over the next few days!!! Parts have been on back order a few weeks and I am dying to feel and hear my new mods.

thanks, mr. gale!

ordered up a windcutter today for my tascam. :p the factory windscreen that the recorder came with failed my wind test over the weekend. got saturation at 45mph with driver side window rolled (the recorder placed on center console just behind the cubby lid). :) i drive with the window down in the cooler months so i need it to withstand at least 55mph.

how much is an uprev tune there? ive been tinkering with the idea..but not entirely sure how it works. do you have to buy the 500 dollar module from uprev and then pay someone 500 to tune it?!

So it's the Swifts?
All this time I thought that skipping, yawing, ABS action I felt on Friday night was due to a late braking maneuver in the wet while transitioning from asphalt to concrete rumble strips at the entrance to an offramp. :icon23:

I think I'm paying 600 bucks. Call rob at Z car garage for info. He is a pretty good guy, gets great reviews on this site and seems waaaay knowledgable.

I know the stockers are pretty good, but I like being able to clean my own filters when I do oil changes. Also I don't want to have to pull off my bumper to get to them. It's half (almost negligible) performance gain, and half ease of maintenance I guess.

SurfDog 07-30-2012 02:17 PM

p.s. (I know this is goofy, but...) I kinda like being able to see my intakes. It just sort of says "bitchin" to me looking at dual intakes.

I know, its gooify, but I'm not really a hard corps racer. This is my DD. My other non performance mods are things like Dynamat, quieter tyres (planned) and mirror stickies. Also I have no track brakes or cooler. Like I say, it's not really a tracker.

i speak from experience running that intake long time ago, but that kit runs pretty hot vs the stock system or similar systems such as R2C. the heatsheilds are not very effective, dont fit right in the 370Z unless forced, as they were made for the G37's.

Get the K&N Typhoon, I like mine very much so far, the gain on performance is decent...

i got a 10mm. my kics 10mm would not sit correctly on the disc so i decided to try another brand from japan. :p my G's front wheel is slightly sticking out from the front bumper so i want to tuck that in for cleaness and improve mpg.

np, if you can still change it, i recommend R2C (had good experience) or the typhoon intake mr.alcheng uses, or keep it stock and get post MAF tubes and K&N drop-ins (what i currently run). works great.

My UpRev was $550 and the only thing I needed to bring was my Z. You don't have to buy anything else. They use a laptop and upload stuff into your ecu and you use your cruise control buttons to flip thru the various maps that the tuner sets up for you.

Hey Kenchan, Do you think if I later swap out my pop charger to k/n or some other, I'll have to retune??

Perhaps that area is there to help you mass the time before your flight???

probably not. when they tune usually the hood is open and blow air via large fan to keep things cool. which means your IAT will be cooler than wat the popcharger would do in real world with hood closed. :)

SurfDog 07-30-2012 03:12 PM

Awesome.

I'll run these for awhile due to my car is in shop and I'm leaving to Denver on plane. Perhaps I'll swap them later if I fond like the performance. Thanks for the input. This forum is always a huge help!!!
