I'll tell you how this poll will go, people with regular Z's will vote 100%, people woth 40th Z's will vote for the 40th, people with Nismo Z's will vote Nismo, people who sold the Z and got 5.0 Mustangs will vote no chance.

I never thought my 66, 68 gto's, 68 stingray, 69 boss 302, or any number of cars I purchased new in the 60's would not only be classics but rare ones at that. I saw the same 68, 427 stingray, British racing green, 427, 4spd go for 100 grand @ Barretts auction, I sold it for $4,600.00 thought I was robbing the guy! I also wish I had my300zx twin turbo I sold in 95. I will pass down my 370z to my grandson, in mint condition, with specific instructions to my son as to the proper care and storage of said vehicle! I would think that it would look like the model A Ford my Dad drove us around in when I was 5 years old by the time my grandson is old enough to drive.

Whoa... so are we currently speculating about the possible future "classic" qualifications of the 370z?

nope.

not voting because poll choices aren't inclusive of a realistic answer.

The fair comment is the 370z possesses certain traits (heritage, classic lines, solid performance, etc) that help make the case for being a future classic, but at the same time, there is more that is required for a car to be a classic.

Cars like the 60s mustang completely redefined the automotive landscape, and spawned a new class of cars. They were discussed relentlessly, featured in iconic movies, and were every teenager's dream.

The 370Z is a perfectly good car, but you won't find it center stage in any movies, and very few people know what it is, much less stay up at night dreaming they had one. It is a more evolutionary step from the 350Z, and hasn't (directly) inspired any competitors in a way that points back to the Z.

Cars like the GTR will likely be renowned for their shattering of performance barriers well into the future.

Cars like the RX7 will be recognized because, in addition to being kick-*** cars, they got the requisite media recognition...remember when Playboy remarked that the 93 RX7 was a better car than the Viper? That sort of buzz is essential for a car to become "classic," because it helps non-enthusiasts recognize the car.

Agreed! You'll never see a 370Z on Barrett-Jackson to be auctioned off either! But you will see Mustangs!

My $.02

A classic 100% depends on the lines and raw power. The 240, 300z, and 370z have then. The comparisons will be against either similarly situated cars now, and then.

The 370z is not the fastest, or sleekest, but it is challenging on its own. It has history like the vette, Porsche, and rustang...but it continues to move forward unlike the rustang that wants to go back to the days when it was really garbage.

My Z turns heads and it's nowhere as pimped as many of yall's. I haven't even put my wheels on yet...they are still in my closet! But what often turns into a classic, like someone said is it's connection to its owners. The 240 instantly grabbed datsun owners and converted many others. The 2 year hiatus in 88-90 killed Z lovers. The 6-7 year hiatus between 96-03 REALLY destroyed Z lovers but won us back with great lines. The conversion from the 350 to the 370 was no just the herringbone interior going from the left to the right as an improvement, but a total redesign with the OWNERS AND LOVERS in mind. The new camero can't be a classic because it's a ripoff newer version of an older car. Rustangs too. And vettes ....never happen again until they kill their present design team!

As long as we keep it classy and not super stupid it out...yes, we are driving living classics. The 2013 is a ripoff version of the 350 and 370. And it looks like shiznot!

now, now, I went the other way I sold my 91 mustang gt 5.0 and went with the Z. I found the current version of the mustang just too big / heavy.... Now the fox body I like, and I did own an originally 240z. And I get as many comments on my Z as I did on my Stang...

with it's low sales volume it could go either way.
10 years from now a low mileage 370 in great shape may be worth a lot.

Bingo! The GT-R definitely, the 370Z as it is probably much less likely IMO. Not saying it won't happen, but it's not a definite yes. I think if it still held a performance edge over it's competitors then I would give it a better chance. With the 5.0 out performing the 370Z in its current state, it kind of makes the Z seem like it's being left behind. That's not usually something you see in a future classic car.

Loaded question. What do you think the response is going to be on a 370 site?
