Default Rubber piece attached to the front bumper faded

Sorry for such a noob question...so the rubber piece attached to the front bumper is fading, its like a grayish color..car only has 4800 miles ...i have only owned the car for 600 miles or so...its not very pleasing to the eye...I am assuming it looks the way it does because of scraping numerous times from the previous owner?

My car is mag black,so the fade on the rubber piece is very noticeable..what are my options?...can i mask off the front bumper and spray that rubber piece?

Why is this happened?its not visually pleasing and i dont like it

thanks

You mean this part? It's easily replaceable, 100$ for a new one. Gets scraped everywhere.

Bondo Back to Black. You can usually get it at your local autoparts store. Just don't get it on your hands.

I use it on the coating on my truck bed and it stays dark for 6 months or so.

How about just spray painting it matte black with flex agent, base coat adhesion promoter?

Or even plasti-dip it? That's wat I'd do. Adding dressing is great but if that's the case use blackwow.

black wow is the shiz. Currently I'm using Wolfs Trim coat, it's also nice.

As others have said, I'd either repaint it or use a product along the lines of Mothers Back to Black

1 month in and I have totally eaten that thing up lol...guess I need an eye exam. So glad to know it is not an expensive part.

Just wanted to update this thread,so i finally recieved my trim restorer from Poorboy,i have not even opened the box....i swung by a local shop that does detailing and some minor body work this morning as i want to take care of some imperfections in my paint...the guy grabbed a rag and paint thinner..yes paint thinner...wiped the piece in question a few times and it went back to the original color when you buy the car...i was shocked,i was thinking this might be just temporary but its not,.....anyone try this?

I've seen that before with certain plastics. There's a good chance that after the oils evaporate it will return to grey or get chalky - depends on the plastic. Detailer's do it becasue it's quick, cheap and easy and will make it look good for a while. YMMV.

And an edit to my original post: Bondo's version is Restore Black.
