Default Windows Rolling Down on their own!

Just wondering if anyone else had this problem:

I did not use my car at all on Saturday and Sunday. It was raining on Friday and I came home with the windows all the way rolled up, as I usually do anyways even if it is not raining. I just got up this morning to find both my windows were rolled down by the EXACT same amount! I then remembered that last week my friend noticed that my driver's side window was rolled down a crack while my car was parked outside. I didn't think much of it...just thought I forgot to roll it up all the way, but now I'm thinking it is some electrical glitch.

Luckily, my car is parked in a garage! Otherwise, I would be pissed.

did you by chance disconnect the battery recently...if so

start the car, press down 20 seconds and then up for 20 seconds

give it a try even if you didnt disconnect, it's a window reset

if you had your keyfob in your pocket and the unlock button was by chance mashed down for a while your windows would have rolled down on their own. I did this one day after coming home, parking, then working in the yard. I heard the car beep and unlock, then the windows rolled down shortly after. I then realized that while I was pulling weeds the junk in my pocket had inadvertently mashed the unlock button.

fortunately i was aware that holding the unlock button for a time would make this happen, otherwise i would have freaked.

Many Nissan vehicles, the Z included, will roll the passenger windows down if the "unlock" tab on the fob it depressed for a few seconds (probably 5-10) and if you keep holding the tab, the windows will roll completely down (my M45 does the same with all four side windows).

That's likely what happened here.

Also, some of you may not realize that you can put all windows up by using the key in the door lock; turn the key to the lock position for a few seconds and hold it there and the windows will roll up...convenient if you want to roll up your windows without messing with the ignition/starting the vehicle.

I didn't know the fob could do all that. I was thinking you got one of the limited edition haunted Zs.

HAHAH, these threads crack me up...because most Nissan owners have been there =)

First time it happened to me was in my Titan. Kept coming outside at the office to find my windows rolled down. Freaked me out. Thought someone was messing with me and had a key. Come to find out, it was the fob being depressed in my pocket LOL....

Thanks guys. Didn't know the key fob could do that. Maybe that is what happened because i have never disconnected the battery.

The Z fob is about 10000 times more sensitive than the Titan one. I cannot keep it in my pocket in the office....its impossible. I've had the windows down, the horn blaring due to the panic button...lol.

Its a good thing I park right outside my office window.

Same thing happened to me, twice including the panic alarm going off I try and take my key out of my pocket and put it on my desk when I'm at home. Apparently it has a pretty good range. hasn't happened since.

If you are referring to the windows rolling up keep in mind that you have to use the "key" inside of the fob and the actual door lock...no haunting or supernatural phenomenon required.

Even on my '04.. the panic button does tend to go once in a while.. Awesome too as in my parking spot, I'm about 5 feet from our accounting department and a desk that backs up to the window.. OOPS!

Wish we could remotely put the windows up.. Or give the car some logic:

If windows are down, engine off and you get out and walk too far away that the windows go up automatically... ya know? Or holding the lock button on the fob can roll them up all the way.. I'm sure Nissan felt there are some safety issues with the idea and thats why you can't do it.. but c'mon..

Someone get to work and make it happen!

Agreed.. they have responsive sensors in them already.. auto-up windows have to have sensors so it doesn't keep going if you cram your fingers in there..

Although I can't say I've tested it.. seems you'd need "jackass" type courage to go for that.. haven't seen the need.

Anyone tested the window motors out?
