Just a question. Were the doors also unlocked? I believe (haven't checked yet since it's freaking freezing outside) that when you hold the unlock button down, the doors unlock, and if you continue to hold the button the windows then roll down.

So if the doors were still locked, but the windows down could it be a problem?

If you don't open either door, the car will re-lock itself after 30 seconds or so.. so yes, you can roll down the windows (whether intentionally or not), and come back to locked doors..

What does your manual say? I would think it's true for Base as well.

Yes, it works on the Base as well.

A well installed viper alarm should let you remotely close your windows and open them along with remote start if you so choose. I had the 5501 system on my cooper s and it would only close the windows with the key in the door from the factory but with the alarm installed i could do it remotely. I was thinking about having the alarm installed on this car as well. The abilty to remotely start your car as well as pop the hatch roll up and down the windows and lock the remote so none of it happens on accident, seems nice. Not to mention the if you leave your Z running and get out with the key some one can drive off. With the viper system you can remotely turn the car off. Trust me on the drive off part I tested it with some friends.

P.S i was freaked the first time I came out to my car to find the windows cracked :shakes head:

It's really a stupid feature in my opinion. Accidentally hit the button in the office while in your pocket, come outside to a soaked car due to the rainstorm or if it's winter ice inside the car.

Rolling the windows up, sure. Down? What a #$% idea.
