So true, it is an integral part of the driving experience, and nothing could really compensate for an unpleasant gearbox. Thinking of that RX-8 transmission always makes me happy.

I don't understand how poeple figure this. I love the transmission in the Z. Once you feel it out I think its really awesome. Can spin the tires, can cruise around with really smooth shifts.... Maybe i'm just a noob thinking my car has a good tranny

My 2004 Mustang GT transmission felt way better. Sure the clutch was heavier but when I added a pro 5.0 shifter it was great. I'm sure the current 5.0 probably feels as good with a short shifter as well. No offense to the Z but the manual transmission is not good, sure it performs and holds up but when it comes to "feeling good" it fails.

I must have a bad Z, my paddles are too notchy, not as reffined as the honda accord paddles...

I'd rather sacrifice some shifting feel for a transmission that has thus far held up to the most powerful forced induction setups with little more than a clutch/PP upgrade. That is very impressive in my opinion.

Most manual transmissions will hold big power with a clutch upgrade as long as you don't power shift.
