Race (not really) to 100k

Who enjoys driving their car as much as me? Well unfortunately I hit 87k today and was wondering if there are any other high miles Z's out there. I'm on my way to 100k loving every minute of it :driving:

2004YZFR1 03-31-2012 08:44 PM

That is awesome! Glad to see that your car is holding up well.

kenchan 03-31-2012 08:46 PM

wow! divide by 10 and you still beat me. hahahaha. :icon17:

IMWEZL 03-31-2012 09:41 PM

That's good! How's she holding up?

I would drive mines more often but these RE11s are expensive and I need them in good shape for autocross.

Time to trade it in , or just drive it into the ground, it depends on what you can afford, you will usually get the best payback on a used sports car if you can keep the mileage under 40k. A high mileage one like yours would definitly be wholesaled to a small time dealer.

What makes you think the OP wants to sell it? ;)

Pretty clever :tiphat:

USMCASA 04-01-2012 10:27 AM

its not getting sold, i'll drive it into the ground then track it and buy another when this one quits. though that may put it somewhere around 175k+ before anything major needs done to it. i keep it immaculate though, engine bay is spotless and exterior is the same. everyone i tell it has that many miles things i'm bs'ing them

nmjaxx9 04-01-2012 12:39 PM

good to hear man  keep it up, hopefully ill be there in the future.

USMCASA 04-09-2012 03:55 PM

88k this afternoon. Getting prices for a plug job on it, not that its running bad. Dayum $30 a piece for ngk laser iridium plugs

corbin09 04-09-2012 04:00 PM

I am at 55k today.. I havent had as much luck as you, My steering lock, the resonator on my intake, and a few other things have broken.... not too bad. I am about to need a new clutch though. :(

LakeShow 04-09-2012 04:16 PM

Damn that crazy USMCASA. I believe if you truely take care of any car the right way, it should last you a long time.

does yours have the syncro-rev?

theDreamer 04-09-2012 04:23 PM

Wow, great to see someone pushing this car with miles and going strong.

ZMan8 04-09-2012 04:35 PM

I have a feeling that if i keep mine as long as possible, it will be one of those 20 year old cars with <25K miles in perfect condition :rofl2:

But nice to see the 370z holding up to the mileage!

corbin09 04-09-2012 04:46 PM

I do not have syncro rev... unfortunately.

USMCASA 04-09-2012 04:53 PM

I think I will take a pic of the engine bay so you can see what an 88k engine should look like

I have more miles on my car than I have posts :p

I'm just under 41k miles, but only 25.5k of that is mine since I bought it used.

USMCASA 04-22-2012 06:40 PM

clamphibian 04-22-2012 06:57 PM

Where are you driving too? I'm guessing you had your car for 3 1/2 yrs possibly. If so that means you are putting like 25k miles a year. So you have never had any issues or problems at all? How do you drive your car? I would take it that you baby it & do not drive the hell out of it. Man that is freaken effen awesome if no problems or headaches.

I drive to work daily about 15 min each way but to go out the closest decent places are about 45 min to 1hr away. I've had is since nov09 so a little shy of 2 1/2 years. Haven't had any issues with my Z, guess I got a good one **knocks on wood**. I would say I give it spirited starts but I far from baby it. I am still on the original clutch but about to put the 6th set of tires on the rear, still on the 3rd set up front. I would say I really only beat on it probably 2 or 3 times a week. Haven't had any overheating issues even after running it at Deals Gap last year. I change the oil regularly with Mobil 1 and a K&N oil filter. If you take care of your car it will last. If anyone is wondering wether or not to get the sport package just look at the mileage I'm getting on my clutch when I've seen others with 20-25k replacing theirs. This is by far my favorite car I've ever owned :driving:

I just had the inside and outside detailed a few weeks ago. It looks practically brand new. I never open the hood so I didn't bother having it cleaned.

JARblue 04-22-2012 09:25 PM

Awesome, USMCASA - almost 90K miles and a beautiful engine bay to boot

We're almost to 18K in 14 months of ownership. We hardly use Synchro Rev. I definitely plan to follow your lead and continue to regularly clean the engine bay.

Nice....very nice. In the end it is all about how you actually drive it. Man you sure have went through some tires....lol. For how many miles you have on your car it is extremely nice looking & your engine looks like it is brand spanking new. I give you two thumbs up.

USMCASA 04-23-2012 08:24 AM

yeah tires have been a learning experience for me. at first i was all about traction and sticky tires, but after replacing tires like that every 7k miles i went with a harder compound and overall better tire. started with the stock potenza's then went to invo's and now running michelin pilot sport a/s. with the michelin's i'm getting about 20k out of a set on the rear and are by far the quietest best riding tires i have ever owned without sacrificing too much grip. i will never buy another tire for it besides the michelins.

takjak2 04-24-2012 03:59 PM

Coming up on 40k here.
