I bought A7 white pearl 370z with every package loaded(sports,Navigation) and i wasn't really feel suspicious about the fake button(there is no S mode printing on the button and i can't press it because, it's fake.) on the rightside of the gear.
![]() I've agreed to my friend because, when i change the gear to paddle shifting mode, and if i down shift, my Z seems not matching the RPM, and the engine is screaming like there is no tomorrow. Plz help me!!! Last edited by leepeen; 05-25-2009 at 01:01 AM. |

Whoa, uhm. If I'm deciphering this correctly, there is rev match when you use the paddle shifters, but not in full automatic mode. But you have to downshift while slowing/stopping obviously for the rev match to work.

ONLY 6 speed 370Zs equipped with sports package gets the S mode button. On automatics, you have to move your shift lever to M mode (next to drive) and then you can use the paddle shifters. It WILL rev match for you just like 6MT. Take my word for it.

Regarding your picture of the AT shifter, can you shift gears through the stick itself or are you restricted to using the steering wheel paddles when in Manual mode?

Yes, the 7AT always matches revs correctly, whether it's shifting on its own (D-mode), or you are shifting (M-mode).
And yes, you can use the shift knob instead of the paddle shifters if you want. It works the same as most AT's with a manual mode (sequential-like, with a forward click being upshift and a rearward click being downshift). It's probably better and easier to always use the paddles if you can get yourself used to it. I have 6MT habits so I'm constantly putting my hand down there and using the stick instead, then catching myself doing it and switching back to the paddles. It will take a while ![]() If you think the 7AT is speeding you up when you downshifted intending to decel, it's not the 7AT, it's you. Check out what you're doing with the throttle. You can downshift for accel or downshift for decel, and the difference is your throttle input at the time. |

I really can't help it..... LOL. People here who actually own these with the auto have to argue how they work with somebody who took a test drive once.
![]() Agressive downshifting with the paddles, uses the rev matching feature just like the manual. No other auto trans I've ever experienced has even done anything close. If you don't "believe" it then by all means go take another test drive and get the sales guy to help you. Also.... when down shifting, the car won't "speed up" if you take your foot off the gas like you're sposed to do when you're.... down shifting. |

I will have to see it to believe it..................... The AT that I test drove before I purchased my 6sp did nothing more than increase RPM when I downshifted using the paddles. It was no different than a normal AT in any other car when you pulled the lever into a lower gear????????

2009 Nissan 370Z Coupe Specs - Nissan USA It's called "Downshift Rev Matching" instead of SRM, but the effect is the same. All 7AT's have it, whereas only Sport 6MT's have SRM. Last edited by 2bits; 05-25-2009 at 01:55 PM. |

So which is it? Do you believe the 7AT lacks DRM which we have already established works exactly like SRM ("I will have to see it to believe it..................... "), or do you now think ALL modern autos have DRM? We're telling you how the 7AT works as owners of said tranny, and you missed the rev matching during your test drive.

how were you driving. under normal conditions you hardly notice it. BUt during spirited driving and fast decell is when you see it feel it and hear it. So no0w you need to find a friend with a 7AT and find out foryourself instead of just saying no.

Yep. It rev matches. The revs (and tach needle) come up just before the lower gear hits. And the lower gear doesn't hit with the same idiot jolt that a non-matching setup provides.
No doubt it saves a lot of strain on the transmission but, functionally, it's not a lot different than an automatic without rev matching. |
