I always hate seeing people adding to this thread :shakes head: so disappointing that Nissan won't do there own fix...........well actually I guess they did since they removed the lock all together on the newer models.

Sorry to the people still dealing with this BS.....

I did not know this.

yep I think it is gone as of the '12 models...........someone correct me if I am wrong but pretty sure that was when they deleted it.

You are correct. I think Mr.onzedge was one of the first people to visually confirm this and report back.

sooo pulling the fuse and dissabling the lock on my 2009 = 2012 z? lol

By doing this mod you guys are essentially removing any security should your car ever get stolen correct? I wonder how would your insurance company handle a claim for a car who's theft deterrent system has been compromised?

How would they know?

No kidding, and how would a thief that was already inside your vehicle figuring out how to hot wire it, or a scumbag with a tow truck that was going to hook it up and drive away know that the steering column didn't lock ? The car was on it's way to being gone at that point, lock or no lock.
An owner is going to tell the cops and his insurance agent "I pulled the fuse or installed a harness to bypass the lock" ? :rofl2:

just pulled the fuse today, took about 15 mins. Are there any side effects of pulling the fuse?

if a thief is smart enough to gain access to a keyless entry car and start a keyless entry car without a key, don't u think he will be smart enough to bypass a stupid steering lock that every car on the market has??

kinda like people locking their back door on an apartment thats 2 floors up. if someone did all that work to get up there, a stupid little lock is not going to stand in their way at that point

no

If the car is stolen - they will ask, was it locked. Answer, yes. End of story for the insurance company. No coverage will be denied if your car is not locked in anyway. Its not fraudulent to forget or not lock your car.

Steering lock only prevents the wheel from being turned with the car in the off position. I would not consider this to be anti theft. I think it's so that if they got into the car and put it in neutral then they couldn't push the car along and bump start it or steer it onto a truck or into a better towing position. :ugh2:

Is the steering lock even installed in 12/13 370's anymore?

No there's no longer any steering lock from '12s on

Just had my column lock replaced this week under warranty. Rev C failed. Replaced with Rev D. Is this the latest rev or is there E,F..... out there?

Going to buy the bypass harness later this week to avoid any furthur hassle. Don't forget - if the lock fails with your windows or top down, they ain't going back up.

I had my steering lock engage while driving my Datsun B210. Terrible feeling. I was going slowly down hill. All I could do was brake.

I do not miss the feeling of moving my steering wheel while I'm parked and hearing that click.
