2700 lbs curb weight and 270hp is a nice package. And when gasoline hits $5-$6 gal it's gonna be a sweet spot.

The FR-S/BRZ isn't really even in the same class as the 370Z. Totally different animals.
I'd like to see a BRZ with an FR-S front end swap

I think the BRZ has merit for what it is, but I'm a little put off by their use of the STi monicker on something so weakly powered. I wonder if I'm going to have BRZ drivers challenging me in my real STi as a continual nuisance.

Exactly. And by plastering the STi logo on the BRZ, Subaru is just feeding into that. I also think Subie is diluting the STi brand, if that makes any sense. That's admittedly a subjective thing though, mind you.

the STI monicker isn't being used for the BRZ, it was used for the STI BRZ CONCEPT (the blue one with the wing, more aggresive body kit, wheels, etc). The concept was supposed to draw attention to what could be, not necessarily what will be. So in that regard I don't think Subaru is doing anything wrong. |

i think the main selling point and reason for BRZ/FRS is suppose to be price and power/weight ratio. bascially taking nothing and trying to make something out of it.
when you add all sorts of aftermarket parts to make these cars 'capable' as in enough power to compete with the current standard 300hp+ sports car crowd, the prices go up into Z terriory. why not then just buy the real deal in that case instead of tinkering around with some wannabie toy? that is how i see this car. if 200hp and lightweight/fun to drive/cheap, then it needs to sell under $25K. |
