I agree. I know mine is gonna fail in NC at ZDAYZ, thats my luck. But I refuse to pay $500 out of my pocket for something that aint broke yet/ should be replaced by dealer!

Mr.mjg, with all the goodies you put under the hood, might as well get the Z a set of nice shoes, upgrade the look and can better transfer the power on the road!!

One more info, I am not sure about the other brands, but on the setup menu of the Kenwood HU, you can select to switch on/off the remote sensor, I don't know why they have this option but I think it's totally pointless, anyway, if you turn OFF the sensor, the steering module WILL NOT WORK!!

It took us a looooooooong while to figure out since we program the module correctly and it just doesn't work, played with it for about an hour+ and eventually we saw the option was off, still didn't know but I said 'what the heck, no harm to switch it on and give it a shot.', and BOOM, it works.

So if you have a HU that have this pointless option in the setup, BEWARE!!!

woo, thanks for the info. i'll keep this in my mental notes for future.
im really liking the recent pioneers.

I do not know that feeling yet. However, I have been conditioned by more than 2 1/2 decades of driving old Z's such that I don't worry about things too much when I drive. As far as having a brand new Z (well 2 years old now) that had an issue, no big deal. You want reliability stories with Z's? I got 'em. Plenty. You want mystery failures that occur, you cannot solve and then they seem to fix themsleves? Then daily drive (and I mean 25,000 miels per year and up) 30 to 40+ year old Z's. Stuff that people seem to get worked up about just rolls off your back.

Lol, totally agree. My 300zx had the power steering fail for a few days then fixed itself Unfortunatly every Z I have owned has been a reliability nightmare. My 300 was in the shop more than it was on the road.

$400-500 bucks is alot better than having my car sit at a dealer(outside)for a undetermined amount of time and some young inexperienced tech working & dirtying up my car,sh!t getting stolen off my car while it's at the dealer and the very careful tow truck driver Fvcking up my ground effects.

Money,SH!T!!! I can make more but the time and energy I have in my car,

PRICELESS

+1. im the same way. i can't afford to waste time. especially with little kids and VERY LIMITED time to motor my Z i want to make sure i get to use each and every opportunity to the fullest... not wait around for parts or worry about car not starting after a fill up.

My $500 is better spent on an oil cooler. Ill pray to the automotive gods and hope my steering lock doesnt fail.
