Alcheng - It seems all the other industries are slacking and need to get themselves similarly awesome mascots as well don't you think?

Ok, off to bed with me! Good night my fellow Z-ers. :hello:

Mr.ZScr3am, your LEDs are absolutely fine, there's nothing to worry.

What happen is LEDs are just like other kinds of electric light source, it flashes at a very high frequency which is too fast for human eyes to see, therefore we see it as a solid.

However, when using a camera/video-cam to shoot it, the speed of the shutter sometimes is faster than the flash-rate of the LEDs, therefore the camera will 'catch' the moment when some of the LEDs is 'off'.

Another example is if you video shoot an old CRT TV, you will see a black-line going from top to bottom on the screen in the video, it is the same idea.

To make sure you understand, take a look at the video, right from the beginning the first 10s, the LEDs on the headlight are 'flashing', in real life, you won't see the 'flashing' but the camera caught it because the shutter speed was faster than the flash-rate of the LEDs.

Same thing at 0:53 to 0:58, then 3:59 for 2 seconds.

Your LEDs are absolutely fine...

note: the 'flashing' in this post means high-frequency of on-off illumination of the LEDs, NOT the kind of "flashing" you get from a flat-drunk chic.

Mine is wired to come on solidly with the brake and flash in reverse. There's some debate here in Texas whether it is legal to have a flashing brake light.

Since I could never get a definitive answer, I just went the solid brake light route. It's like the front license plate debate - some folks have gone years without ever getting pulled over for no plate, and others seem to collect tickets.

It's easier to just say "WTF" and goose step with the lemmings.

Good Morning All! :hello:

Thanks -- I just picked up a re-mastered version of the album (along with some nice live goodies and demo versions). I almost forgot how good it is. Everyone raves about Dark Side of the Moon -- which is phenomenal, but Wish You Were Here is great as well.

Yes! Diggin the Avatar. One of my all time favourite albums. Reps in 24 hours, I've over spent again... :icon14:

Thanks alcheng I appreciate the schooling that puts me at ease. As far as the light being legal it is not a moving violation so they will just make u change it.

Hmm, interesting. Here in Florida I have seen a lot of brake lights that flash on motorcycles, especially those that belong to the police. :)

Oh I very nearly forgot: Good morning everyone. Getting a bit of a late start this morning due to a scheduled downtime at work last night. :hello:

I must again say how nice it is to cruise the streets at 2:30am when no one is about, except for the damn deer that come close to the road! Those guys freak me the fark out when I come 'round a bend and they're right next to it!

Apparently, that is the issue; only emergency vehicles are supposed to have flashing lights. I honestly and seriously doubt that I'd ever get pulled over for it, but it would only take one overly zealous tech performing my State inspection to flunk because of it.

Like the license plate debate here in Texas, yeah, you eventually would probably win, but I'm not interested in being the test case.
