I run my cold engine until the rpm's start to come down on their own, and into gear. I try not to stomp on it until the temp is 180.

Honestly as long as it takes to get the engine above 180 degrees.

You are in MD? That's wassup.......... to no-one in particular: So with the addition of the oil coolers and cooler weather, it seems that everything is working well (maybe too well). Guess we will see how it goes during the summer. I'm sure TX will be awesomely hot like normal............

370Z manual states to let the car run for 30 seconds before driving. This is basically the equivalent of watching the RPMs drop slowly when you cold-start in the morning. I do this in the summer, too.
OK, how about this: you have a long stretch of steep downhill in front of you. It's winding and takes you down a small mountain road into town. Traffic is going at 40 mph. Do you: keep it in 5th or 6th and use the brakes, OR, put it in 3rd and engine brake all the way down?

I use the brakes. They get replaced often anyways.

I only live a few minutes from where I work. I start my car about 10min before I head out the door. ... Sometimes 30min depending how f'ing cold it is outside. I like my cabin warm when I jump in.
