I tried this technique but found that the ball blocked my view of the road and the water balloon broke when I tried to catch it and shorted out my seat heater switches.

Oh, and the feel from 1st to 2nd didn't change one bit.

Yeah, but a lot of people have reported some extra lateral movement and some slack at the top of travel with nothing at all. I would rather fix the problem with the fewest side effects.

I found that after doing an ECU reset it was much smoother.

Also, It helps to really accelerate through the gear to smooth things out.
