this morning drove the 370z for the first time ever

The interior is nice. The handling is tighter/better than my 08 350z. The look is also fine. I like the old 350 but I also think the 370 is very nice. I also know(seen Ray & Jason drag race) that the 370z is faster/quicker BUT when I tested one today, the car just didn't feel fast at all. The rpm just went fast to redline without much feel of power. I know the car is faster, just didn't have that feeling. The gas pedal has a very short travel point. I had to pull over because I thought there was something in the way, preventing me from flooring the car. There was, but it was part of the pedal. I also didn't care for the match rpm thing. When I down shifted, the rpm flew up quickly but the driving feeling was not there. So even if I can buy one at a very, very, good price, I won't. I was ready today, but I just can't. I will be either re-wiring my 08 that was flooded, or contue with the LS swap. I tried but I just can't.......

Try taking the e-brake off next time.

Sounds like all you have to do is turn the "s" button off.

Really was that Necessary?

I'd suggest moving on if you're not going to reply on topic!

Sorry you felt that way Andre its understandable since the torque isn't that great at the bottom end but it does make up for it with a higher redline.

I know how you felt, when I test drove the Z for first time I didn't like it, Question , Did you redline it? How long was the test drive?. Since this car doesn't have a lot of torque you have to rev it up over 4500rpm to feel the power. When I test drove for first time it was raining so I didn't drove hard. But decided give it a second chance like a week later and fell in love with it.

don't understand the reason for the response of others

This would have been my 5th Z. I'm on my 3rd. Maxima, 81, 97 se, 99 se, had the first one made, 81 rear wheel drive & talked to me, 91 Stenza, 95 Altima, 93 & 95 Quests, a Villiger(nissan Quest) lease(dog show vans) a number of Sentras, including a 2.0 liter Se/Se-r, a 90's 200sx, a demo 4by2 pickup & more. Because I had access to trades at wholesale prices(friends) I've owned 2 & 3 Nissan at the same time. Most likely I've owned more Nissans than anyone, except for a Nissan dealer:) I brought my check book with me today. I'm not dumping on the 370! You guys should be able to take someones negative, (only in part) experience/opinions. The suspension felt sporty, the engine felt weak & empty, with just a flat feeling up to 6,000 rpm. didn't feel the engine helping me control car when down shifting. I've had some of the best Nissans. 1.6 1.8 2.0 liter 4 cyl. 3 liter iron with tim. belts 3 lit alum. w chain a few 3.5 alum. V 8's. I have some experience under my belt:)

I can see that, & perhaps try again. I would love to own one & try to get it into the low 12's with just bolt ons. I don't mean to brag, but I'm very good & have lots of car experience. Yes, the rpm did fly by fast (without 4:08 gears:) & I did redline it in the begining. It didn't have that solid engine feel like my 08. I'll try again:)

As a self-proclaimed Nissan car connoisseur, do you think that we all made a mistake by purchasing a 370Z (as opposed to another Nissan or another car)?

andre12031948 12-03-2011 05:08 PM

I was given the car to drive it myself, no salesman. It's a friend's dealership, so I had free reign to drive it as I wished & for how long.
