The Z's future
|
the longest the Z was ever really fully phased out for was like 4 years from 99 to 2003.
|
If they go ALL electric then I definitely will not be buying another Z. If it was a hybrid with 400hp, then MAYBE I can consider another Z in the future. If they do go the turbo route then I would probably be all over it.
|
Just like the 240Z introduced people to affordable sports cars, I hope the next Z introduces people to affordable electric sports cars. Assuming the driving range improves, the only thing I would miss would be the exhaust note.

EV technology can be pretty cool if done right. It can only get better as technology advances. Yeah, it's not the same fire breathing stuff we all know and love... but if that's the way the world goes we can at least still have power. And instant torque. |

look at teslas review on top gear. a 55 mile range and handling like a pig is not what i call fun. furthermore, i believe that there will be something to replace gasoline for internal combustion engines. if not, there will be millions of 2 ton paperweights around the worls... im sry but the world will never go full electric practically...

But that's unlikely. It's got a better chance at reinvigorating the Z brand than it does destroying it, IMO. My guess is we'd see a hybrid Z before a full electric. |
People where scared and disliked the car when it first came out. Horse back was the main personal transport. Just look at how far it has come since then.

Good to hear!
Yeah it would take a really long time for the world to get to fully (or mostly) electric. I'm interested in what the modding scene will be like for electric cars. You know it's not going to disappear, but it will be very different from what it is today. Probably more suspension than power mods or maybe more emphasis on tuning? Bigger electric motors for the wheels? Aftermarket combustion engine? :icon17: |

I think people will change their minds once these cars go mainstream and people actually get a chance to drive them. |

do we really want to be 80 years old and telling our grandkids "i rememeber when cars were real cars. when u reved them up they made noise and you could actually here the acceleration u were feeling."

They will just have a sound system that is hooked to the throttle that makes engine and exhaust sounds.
|
i still believe something will need to replace gasoline to run in internal combustion engines. there are over 750 million vehicles in the world today. can u imagine car companies allowing themselves to turn 750 million vehicles into 2 ton paperweights? every vehicle made to this point would become obsolete

Hybrid Z would awesome so long as they keep the current engine in place. Only concern would be about how long the batteries would hold up for track use.

You guys are funny! Electric cars! :icon17:
What's next?!? Phones without dials and cords?!? :bowrofl: |

I have doubts about pure electric cars becoming the mainstream norm, but fuel cell hydroden/electric cars do show promising concepts. We just need to get the infrastructure in place. Battery tech development is starting to plateau, but I'm sure there will be some kind of breakthrough. Just look at how cell phones have evolved due to consumer demand. 10-15 years ago it was the size & weight of a brick and couldn't even send out a text message. Now I can tell Siri "I want to see boobs" and it gives me directions to the 5 strip clubs near me... that's friggen awesome!
The likelyhood of cars becoming autonomous is looming. The most ineffeciant part of the automobile is the driver. In the future, it won't really matter what fuel or power source is used. Driving will become a recreational activity like walking or jogging. |
Yeah like I've said before the z won't disappear because the z, g, and fx share the same platform. It doesn't make financial sense to get rid of the z but not the others. But I'm glad to hear a 200 hp z is not in the future. Maybe all the people complaining about low z sales will stop freaking out now.

No thanks, no pansymobiles disguised as a sports car for me. This is why its important to upgrade weak parts in our Z's for durability. The gas engine as we know it will be over inside of a decade. Our cars will be valueable classics as well as every other muscle/sports car of today. The world will be one giant honda CR-Z/toy prius and Teslas will continue to cost a heart and lung. The classics will rule beause the future will be us being forced to buy the nissan Z-ev pansy edition. Lmfao! |
Electric Sports Cars: just another good reason to nix the EPA.
