Honest representation. I've seen the numbers and reviews. The EVO is nice on the track. You have to throw it around a little more than the Z But, it comes back into line right after a powersliding turn so well.

The EVO X does so many things so well.... 4WD, Fast, 4Door for the family and is small for Gym parking spots.

In my case, my wife and I have a Maxima four door (only $28K). It is fast enough for a family car. My folks (no kids) would have a fit if I was to race around with them in the car anyways. I have a 370Z S7 for a daily comute car and it's quite fast and gets resonable mileage. My wife drives the Maxima most of the time. We love our Nissans and have had many of them. They are high quality and comfortable vehicles. Unlike our GM / Toyota / Chrysler Vehicles. Our Ford Motorhome quality is unbelievable and with a V10 that sucker moves.

For the weekend - The '03 Vette with a 6spd and few speed tricks is great. Or Supercharged Firebird with 6spd if I want to challenge the land speed record. However, with the big doors on those cars do not make it easy to park at the Gym. They like to pack us in and I always end up with a SUV that doesn't know how to park on each side of me. Not to mention I'm always on edge with such power in hand. In traffic, idle shift, idle shift. I can't even press down on the gas pedal really.

For snow country or when it gets really wet around here there is the JEEP with the HEMI in it. ;-) It wouldn't make a very good track vehicle though. Still loads of fun!

If I had a family / kids and only one car a Evo X would be a great all around car.

Point is - Make sure that going to a Z you don't give up the flexibility you may have had with the EVO. However, coming from 350Z like me and going back to 370Z like I did. I can see your point. I LOVE MY Z's All seven that I've owned throughout the years. There is just something about a Z. Nice and tight, quick with good gas mileage to boot. It's hard to beat on the fun factor scale. Even with a S7 it's a blast !!! I love to hear the S7 do the downshift for you. It's better than the manual because you can do it really fast. People outside must think I'm Michael Schumacher (Stig)

I had intentions of tracking the Evo, but I got a promotion at work (more responsibility, longer hours, etc) and side/contract work has also picked up. I don't have time to get to the track right now, so my goals have changed with the car. I think on a day-to-day basis, the Z will be more comfortable. If/when I finally am able to focus on getting out to the track, I may pick up a cheap 94-95 miata and have a dedicated track car.

i actually traded an Evo X MR for the Z. I do miss the Evo a lot, it just handled so well and I knew I could push it very hard very comfortably, it was actually quite effortless.
Do I regret making the change? Not at all. Would I do it all over again? I'm really not sure. If you do not like to take it out on the snow then YES I would get a z, but if you like going out on snow or dirt then the evo is a world of fun.
If you only drive on tarmac then z.
If you like to drive on all sorts of terrain then Evo it is.

I agree, although snow in the Evo sounds like a lot of fun.

Coming from a turbo car you might be happier in a 135 or 335 BMW.

Why would you say a 135 or 335 instead of the Z? Maybe 1M, but that's a different story

Nice 8 are you in a Z now or X? Or both?

BMW might make a better DD then the Z.. But the Z def. looks better.
I went through what you are going through in reverse. I had the Evo 8 before and traded it in for the Z .. and was missing the boost so I boosted it and still didn't fall in love so here I am back with an EVO 10 this time. The Z was amazing with the TT kit.. NA it was ok.. felt slow coming from a turbo car. I just need a car I can put through the ringer sun rain ice or snow.. and the evo is the best for that.. my Z was just decoration for my garage 70% of the time.

If you have an Evo you're really wasting your money if you don't use it on anything besides tarmac.
Sorry wasting your money is too strong. More like not using it for what it was made for.

That looks amazing! I would actually say that snow driving is more fun than tracking your car.

Again I really feel that if you have no intention on driving on snow/dirt, you should just get a Z.
Coming from a boosted car I preferred NA

I think the two vehicles are very different machines in both design and function so I never even thought about comparing them. Sport sedan Vs sports car, AWD Vs RWD, 5 seater Vs 2 seater... And yes, I believe the Evo is no more than a sport sedan (but a damn good one) as Mitsubishi had stopped competing in rally racing since before the Evo X's inception. So I would imagine that anyone that was considering one of these cars would be looking for very specific characteristics from a car that would exclude the other.

All good points. I am definitely not using the Evo to its full potential. I drive about 30 miles round trip M-F to and from work. Winter time, even less. In the summer, I go to a few car shows, cruises, 1-2 autox events, and get together with a few friends and my dad - all Z owners haha. I think I've got my mind made up.

Thx for everyone's input. I'm going in Wednesday to possibly trade the X in for a low mile Z. I'll keep everyone posted.

It's also fine to just say you got bored of your current car. I got bored my Civic Si, 350Z, NISMO 370Z, and I look forward to becoming bored by my Evo X MR. It happens.

Since you used to own a 350 you should have enough experience to compare both cars. If you loved your 350(like I did) then you will love the extra power, handling, grip, styling, and nicer interior of the 370.
