I've tried installing the new shift knob but ran into a problem. It appears that it will not go all the way down. There is about a 1/4 inch gap between the knob and the shift boot. I'm assuming I may have received a bad shift knob as I've also noticed a lot of loose metal shavings inside the knob when I received it. I will contact PWJDM and see if they can solve this.

Hey Mark,

We just sent you a PM to try and solve this issue.

Here is what we sent you just incase anyone else runs into an issue.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Under the stock shift knob there is a small aluminum spacer around the actual shifter. This should be removed prior to installing the Password:JDM shift knob.

Wha?

I don't recall seeing an aluminum spacer...??

Alchemy- btw, when you do remove the stock knob, make sure to hold the shaft with vicegrips. the torque you put on the knob can potentially damage the linkage below. and dont forget to put a towel or something under the vice grips not to scratch the center console. :D

What about the boot though?? You vice gripped the shaft w the boot still on??

just pull up the boot/shifter ring assembly. you dont need tools for pulling this up, just grab the aft portion of the boot and ring (just dig fingers into the boot and grab under the ring) and pull up. :)

kenchan 12-16-2011 01:35 PM

btw, that shifter ring has metal clips which will scratch the center console so make sure you put towels under there as well. or do like me, painter's tape the area of the console (couple of layers to make it thick). :D
