Good job, by the way!

I didn't get pics of the ring swap unfortunately. But it's pretty easy to do. The ring just sits a little higher on the cone shaped part of the shifter which gives it a little more flush look in my opinion.

What size do you think the o-ring would be?? 3/4 ?

pedz, very nice, good idea!! I am tempted to go the bottle cap route. Will need to check out the DIY linky.

Great review on first impression.

Took the Z out for a drive this morning to try out the shift knob. The weight of the knob makes a big difference. Shifts feel smoother now. I also like the shape of the knob much better over the stock one. I highly recommend this shift knob to anyone that is on the fence about it.

The weight def makes shifts fall into place much nicer:tup: Glad you like it. It does fit in your hand pretty well, huh?

Yeah, 3/4 or possibly 1". Pretty sure either would work. The bottle cap trick also seems like a good way to go.

I had thought the same due to the quoted message. Although a page back I gave a slightly deeper description. In my head I was hoping he was refering to that:roflpuke2:

Good to hear, it's gonna be tough for me to compare against the stock since I swapped out my oem on day one to the Nismo GT Titanium.

Alchemy 12-19-2011 02:37 PM

Im not sure why one would want the derlin, too light.

kenchan 12-19-2011 02:40 PM

derlin is good as it doesnt get affected by heat or cold.

I understand that but its just too light. Maybe if it had some kind of metal core to add weight.

Just finished the install of the shift knob. Love the way this thing looks. It fits in very well with the Z interior. Thanks everyone for the tips on removing the stock shift knob. Using the vice grips and strap wrench made it really easy to remove.

To get a better fit between the boot and the shift knob I cut out the top of a water bottle and replaced the factory ring that is used to hold up the boot. The smaller ring makes the boot sit higher on the shifter and makes the shift knob look more flush with the boot. There is no need for the O rings if you decide to do this. Here are some pics.

My custom one-of-a-kind boot ring, lol

Now I just have to let the loctite set before I go test it out. :driving:

Thanks for the installed photos!! Looks fantastic!!

Unfortunately, we have decided not to mass produce these shift knobs in the white delrin.

But we do have ONE in white that we machined. If you are really interested in getting one in white, give us a call at 562-801-1808 and we can sell you the one we have.

Think we may need to have them revise the quality checks. Inspector #5 might have been napping when they put it in the plastic bag...

Yea I just called them... They sent us a honda one....

They gave me an RMA number, but now I will have to wait till they get the old one back before they will send me a new one...

And its Christmas time too, so going to the post office right now is about as much fun and putting cigars out on your eyeball...

OK. So basically I just hang onto this one and disregard the RMA#?

Once again, my knob's too small. :ugh2:

For quick reference, my order number is 72403

I'd love to get a couple of the O-rings too.

Thanks for hooking us up.

As much as I want my shift knob now, I think I'll be waiting until after the holidays to get it. Think that I'll also get the fog light as well once I get around to the purchase.

Mine arrived today and I will install it in the morning. It looks right so far.

Is it possible to get one from the previous 'Balanced' Series of knobs? I really liked the look/feel of those in other Z's I rode in. I'd like to have something similar to that.

It was discussed if maybe the hex nut that sits top center could be free floating?

PW:JDM, any response to this? Thanks. :tiphat:
