Those things are funny.

We are going to to a new car that hasn't been out all that long as say HEY! This thing is going to break down before others

Its really hard these days to say what car is reliable and what isn't. Especially since non-reliability today means that the nav system is not intuitive. I don't know about you guys but I could care less about nav packages and how they rate as far as performance. And I especially hate that those types of ratings are calculated into overall reliabiltiy scores.
To me reliable means will the engine or transmission fail in less than 250,000 miles. I haven't had that happen in a nissan yet. Though most I've gone in one is 180,000. But when I switched up the cars that went that far were still running strong.
I have certain issues with nissan but "Real Reliability has Never been an Issue."

^^ But on the other hand it is good to live in an era where in order to distinguish reliability between brands or models they have to resort to nitpicking stereo knobs, little bits of interior plastic, and steering wheel button usability. As reliability goes up, standards go up and the nitpicking begins. This is a good thing -- except when you read about it.

Good as a quality comparison. Not in functional reliability...

I think you missed my point. Frankly if there were any differences in functional reliability, they would focus on that. There really isn't so they nitpick the fit and finish details.

But the 2009 models did have powertrain reliability issues (oil consumption, failed synchros, and failed clutch slave cylinders).

I would say a few of them did... not many that I have seen with oil consumption issues. I was scared about that before I bought mine, but it uses next to none.

The clutch pedals have been an issue, I have seen some 2010s have the same issue. I haven't had any of the issues to this day.

I have lost almost all faith in all reporting agencies/individuals. If the critics a say a movie is awesome, 99% of the time I hate it, they say it's the worst movie ever, I love it. This car is the best ever, not even in my top 20. That data holds no value to me, no matter what of it proves to be true or not. These cars have their issues, so did my 350, but I love these cars! Just my

Bottom line the cars now are so good for the most part, they have nothing to write about are not needed in a job at the magazine.

Consumer Reports is useless. This goes for any car they review they do, not just the Z or Nissan. They really need to stick to evaluating coffee makers and blenders.

Question: What car companies were ranked 1-8; what other Nissan's outranked the Z.

The Z isn't a POS by any means, but maybe the cars that outranked it did so legitimately.
