Apparently it's still read and respected enough to get everyone here worked into a froth. If the Z would have won this comparo I highly doubt you'd be ranting about their irrelevance. 
I liked my Z a lot, but the coarse engine and endless road noise were enough after almost two years. I would have hoped that I could take my sports car with the "sport package" to a track day now and then without spending another $1000 or more to you know, actually use it at the track without the brakes failing or going into limp mode. The freakin Mini owners can do that.
