So glad I never partied or did other crap. Made me boring, but unlike my roommates, I have a degree and a career now. Also managed to skip through with 10% body-fat benching 100# over my weight. I am VERY happy with spending college in the books and gym rather than the sorority whorehouse above my apartment.

College is for studying and maintaining yourself so you can party LATER. The parties later in life are much better.

I managed to study ok, getting in good shape (18minute 5k, 350 bench, etc), and still had plenty of time to party. They aren't mutually exclusive.

No, but think of what you could have done had you not partied. Also, what you did is even harder than what I did. VERY rarely can people balance that.

I think people are conditioned to believe they can't work hard and have fun, but you will find most successful people balance them. There are a lot of hours in the day, and if you work to use them optimally, things tend to turn out better.

As much as we are trained to believe that hard work==success, it is just one of your tools to get there. Getting in the door to most jobs/promotions comes from having people like you. I don't promote capable people, I promote capable people that "get it" -- and one of the best ways to learn social skills is interacting with a ton of people in a ton of environments. Obviously, you still have to be good at your job, but there are plenty of geniuses stuck back in the back labs.
