BIG delema, need help clearing my head.
whats goin on everyone
Ok heres the situation im dealing with. Im 22 and Im scheduled to go on a deployment at the end of the year for 6/7 months. I currently have a 04 srt-4 and i like it but im looking to get a new car when i get back its between 370z/g37 6mt coupe. Im not arguing the fact of which is better. I would love to get a 370z but i was deciding on getting a g37 coupe. The reason i chose the g37 coupe over the 370z was because it had a backseat , and my thinking is if somewhere down the road my girl gets pregnant and i still have the 370z then i would possibly have to trade it in and get something else. And if i have the g37 coupe id still b able to keep it.My girl also has a 05 altima. my question is do u think im stupid for thinking like this? or should i just get what i want? How is the 370z as a daily driver. BTW im already a member of a g37 forum and asked them the same question. Just wanted to talk to ppl who drive these cars. thx again |

No you're not stupid for thinking that way. Actually, you're just being considerate and I'm hoping you're planning marriage and family down the line. If you get the Z, don't be dumb and use protection until you are ready for kiddies.
I'm in a long relationship with my girl and I still get the Z. I already discuss it with her the disadvantages and she says get whatever makes you happy since there's already another car for any "family" things. Plus, mines likes the feel of being driven by a boy in sports car. Z as a daily driver...let's say while it's exciting to drive, it sucks for cargo space. My '92 240sx has backseats and lots of room at the trunk.

I have had to get rid of a few cars because of a change in priorities. But I would get the Z. Use any of a number of types of prevention and enjoy the Z while you can.

My guess is that it will be a pain in the a$$ to put a baby in the backseat of a G37. So you won't be using the G when you're going somewhere with the baby. You guys have an altima already. Get the Z. I love it as a DD.

What's the toughest thing you ever did? Go 24 hours without your xBox? Sad. How dare you tell him to "grow sum". Grow up junior. To O.P. - I own a G37 and plan on getting a Z next year. The back seat in a G is going to be a nightmare for you with a baby seat. All that vestigial back seat brings you is extra weight. Assume your lady's car will be the primary transportation. Back in the dark ages when my son was born, I drove an RX-7 and my wife drove an Explorer. Plan on the same. She'll like driving the Z as a break every now and then too! Best of luck and thank you for your service to our country. |

thanks for the love and the good response, and yea im sure her car will be the primary car. Most of my friends are telling me to go for it while you can. I was just wondering if it was possible to have me with the 370z and her with the sedan and it work u kno? I mean shes not prego i just dont want to have to give the car up after i put like 10k into the car lol

Even if you did decide to part with it thereafter, they're really retaining their resale value!
+1 on thx for your service to our country!

when it's time for a car seat, it will be a great time to trade in the gf's altima for something more family-friendly...
even if you get the g37 coupe, it's not going to be very convenient trying to push the passenger seat up and maneuver the bean sprout into the back seat and try to get it all latched up, and then slide the seat back, etc. i think that's why people move to 4 door rides once that happens... so might as well get the Z now, right?

I would definetely get the Z. I'm deployed right now in Iraq and all I've been doing is research on the 370z. I read everything on this forum everynight on my 12hr shift when there is down time (Which there is a lot of haha) and out of the 3 or 4 other cars I was looking at, the Z definetely sounds like it will be my next car when I return home. The guys on this forum seem very friendly and knowledgable so I feel I have a place to go for questions and answers once I purchase my Z. As for the G37, I was looking at those too but I just don't like the way they look. The backseat didn't really strike me as a reason for purchasing it either. I also would definetely not put a baby in a G37. Keep it in your Altima if you have one! Make wise decisans with your girlfriend and good luck on your deployment. Enjoy the states and have a beer for me haha. America is the greatest!

Just FYI my daily driver is a regular cab full size truck (I am a single parent). I just put the car seat in as described in the owners manual and roll. There is not much I can do about it considering I dont have a back seat and cant afford to sell and buy. I do put a beach towel down to protect against stains and the child seat from wearing on my seats. Just get the 370 so you dont have to see one later in life and say "I had the opportunity to buy one of those back in the day"
