Poll about vdc on/off....

I keep mine on all the time..what could possibly be the advantages of having it off? And isnt it a safety feature?

It is a safety feature, but there once was a time when people drove without traction control. Shocking, I know.

The reason to take it off is purely foolish, purely selfish, it is about fun.

With it on, if you go around a corner too quickly, the electronic nannies in the computer kill your throttle so that you go around the corner slowly but safely.
With it off, if you go around a corner too quickly, you engage in oversteer, can correct the skid, and powerslide through the turn, fast and fun.

Now, you may wonder why anyone would want to do that, but it's obviously desirable for a large enough group that major car manufacturers allow the driver the control to turn it off if they like.

For fun.

No reason to be driving in a way that VDC is really getting in the way on the street though.

Honestly, whether it's on or it's off, driving on the street under normal conditions, it should never even be an issue. So, unless you're really gunning it or going round corners too fast, it will never effect you, so leave it on or take it off, it will never effect your drive.

In wet conditions, though, I keep it on due to low traction situations, which is why it's really there to begin with.

Yeah. I notice it cutting power sometimes on the street, which it does really aggressively, but once going, it doesn't really get in the way much.

I have 3000 miles on mine and have never turned it off.

And really don't see a reason to.
