RCK,
Been on lots of boards over the years. And every one responded the same way when a young man (never a young woman – guess they don’t drive?) gets a car they now covet. I guess everyone just remembers what they were like at that age. As for the warrantee, do not buy from an independent provider. Check the records and you will see most suck in purchases then fold under bankruptcy leaving the buyers holding the bag. I assume Nissan offers one. That’s the one I would get. Keep in mind, that these are loaded with markup. So shop it around. Typically, you’ll find it for half what it retails for. It’s all about mitigating risk. So weigh that as you see fit. While no one wants to replace a powertrain, there aren’t hidden big ticket items in our Z’s (compared to dual clutch tyrannys per say) but you gotta know what you are comfortable risking. I for one think it’s cool to have a couple generations of Z’s across the family generations. Just don’t let him call himself the new and improved model.! Enjoy. |

No you dont need extended warranty Most dont use fog light. Im glad it didnt come installed. No you dont need oil cooler UNLESS you're tracking/racing your car. |

idk why every forum has to give people a hard time for getting a child a cool car. its a dream to have a "sick" car at a young age. whats the point of having a cool car when you 40+ whats the fun in that ? sure its nice. but a 370z is prime for college.

there are ways to protect your kid now a days -- if you're worried about him speeding, install the new GPS tracking device into his car -- I sell probably about 15 of them a year from the dealership to new drivers. I wish I was fortunate back then but watching these kids these days obtain a new $30k+ car, I ask what bad economy are we living in?

There's people of all ages that drive like retards.
I think this thread is damn near useless now, the OP had their mind made up BEFORE they started this thread and since an earlier page they haven't responded to anyone. I hope your son gets lucky and won't need the warranty. As for me, I have my good luck streaks and my bad luck streaks, and the bad luck streaks tend to include whatever car I'm driving whether I'm a good driver or not, and I am a good defensive driver.
