Just did a 371mile drive and got 24.4 mpg (calculated, not computer) with 4.08 gears. Some patches of traffic, but mostly clear 80+ mph

Hmm.

I say, fill up, use tripometer to calculate MPG on next fill up and take it from there.

You could have a failing O2 heater circuit and not get a CEL. A small break in the wire from a rock that flew up into the undercarriage can do it.

After that, all I can think of is over oiled filters if you have them, meaning you need to clean the MAF's or something really weird like a clogged cat.

Try confirming the MPG first and then we can go from there.

Any fluttering or low idle?

i as well want to test this out, I did a little 30 min highway trips from gf house and reset the trip and set cruise control it got up into 29.3mpg. car is brand new less than a thousand miles on it, stillen gen 3 intakes already installed. ill post my mileage this Monday when I do my 560 mile trip to home.

that trip mpg thing can be off... the sure way to test it is to fill up your tank. drive for how long you need to then fill up again and see how much gas you fill up with and see how many miles you drove and divide the mileage by the gallons you filled up with and you'll get your true mpg.

mishuko 12-19-2014 06:59 AM

my mileage went down after i put the gen 3's in... like high teens-20's... to like... 15ish.

anyways... shouldn't this thread be locked now that gas is cheaper?

like almost 20 bucks cheaper for a half tank :O

njobe89 12-19-2014 07:01 AM

you should be locked up cause you're $20 cheaper then last time :p :D

I drive it every day and I still DGAF. Especially with gas prices dropping like they have been recently. :driving:

Back in July, I took a road trip from Suwanee, GA to Hood River, OR and back. It was a total of 7,312 miles and I averaged 24.9 mpg.

mishuko 12-19-2014 09:40 AM

seriously... when i drive i rev to atleast 4.5k in first and 2nd. fk it!

and when i want to have a bit of 'spirit' it's going above 6.

and then i like to hang the rpm high for a bit to listen to the music... in fact i down shift and sit in 2nd going through tunnels just because.

With full breather mods the computer is telling me 21.8mpg average. On the highway with no traffic and on straight sections the instant read will tell me around 30mpg (there's no readout for 30, it just sits between 20 and 40 and I assume it's a linear). This is the only way I figure people are saying they're getting 30 mpg.

The 21.8mpg is from almost ALL highway driving to and from work. If I drive any extended period in local traffic I'm down to about 19-20.

Filling up at the pump has shown these readings are fairly accurate. It's been a while but I THINK when I first purchased the car I was getting higher averages, but I believe it's normal to drop a few mpg when you put on breather mods. Higher air density needs more gas to balance it out to create more power and produce a more efficient explosion.
