stop farting around and go tell GM to build in the US. Wats holding them back? There must be a reason..

then you know why they are built in canada, improve watever that is and bring it back.
You got Canadians feeling sorry for us...why? Get the shiitt straight and build american muscle in detroit how it should be done. Stop crying over foreign car sales. If you build great cars no need to worry about imports. Too many whiners and

To be honest, we buy a lot of American cars so I don't think we're the problem. I even bought my Z from North Carolina and had it shipped up here using an American shipping firm.

If I was big over buying local, why not just support your local dealership, regardless of the manufacturer? The people who work there are American and support the local community.

I saw he had a 67 GTO, totally restored, good, his wife a newer Pontiac sedan, and they also had a Chevy truck. I try not to judge but, having lived in this part of Missouri for 20 years, I have encountered a certain mentality that equates owning "foreign" cars as bad. I introduced myself and told him the previous owners were meticulous in their care of the home. He said, "Of course they were, or we wouldn't have bought it." His tone was a little smart a&$ but I shurgged it off. I told him they put a lot of time in the yard and so forth. He told me of course they did because that is the only kind of home they buy. I tried again. I commented on how nice they and all their new neighbors were. He said I would notice no change with them. I told him I keep to myself, mind my own business, and whatever he did on his property, house, driveway, etc. was none of my business. He stared at me without answering as if he didn't like what I said. I tried one more time. I commented on how nice his 67 GTO was and mentioned I had some old cars I played around with and hoped to get to them one day. He asked which kind? I told him 66 Plymouth Valiant convertible, 68 Barracuda, and a 68 Charger that was maybe more rust than metal. He then grabs me around the neck, I kid you not, and shakes me saying, "Then why are you driving Nissans!" My wife has a Sentra. He asked me again saying I should drive only American cars. So I had had enough. I told him I wasn't buying cars from companies whose unions gave money to elect people hostile to my political interests especially my liberty. He asked what I meant and I told him the 2nd Amendment. He then launches into talking points about no one needing a 35 round "clip." I explained my dad carried an M1 Garand in the Korean War and no one had a 35 round "clip." He then began to pepper me with one question after another asking a new one before I could answer and old one. He then tells me he is from Detroit, is a GM Auto worker, an assembler, and was transferred to Missouri. He told me he was union and a Democrat. He then tells me I am a teacher, (my neighbors told) and how do I feel about that. I told him I am not in the union and wouldn't join one because I don't want labor money going to Democrats or Republicans. He then tells me, "Well, I'm a true blue American. I'm American to the core, I drive American cars, am in the union, and a Democrat." In other words, if you are not like that, you are not an American. He then excused himself and went into his garage. I finished cutting the grass and then backed my red Z out of the garage and washed it, slowly, even though it was clean.
I would have to say that after reading that, I really thought you were in Texas. Talk about red-neck heaven.

with US labor rates and unions, i understand why we need to go to different countries. its hard to compete with other countries with cheaper rates.

also i am not worry or whining about import car sales. i drive a 2011 BMW as my daily driver. i buy imports, but buy more american. i just don't like it when people are against buying american cars, and they go out and buy imports there whole life.

BS. That BMW will feed more mouths in America than that Camaro ever could, unless you plan on shipping it to Germany every time it breaks, lol

What year and model Chevy truck does he drive? Hope its not one made in Mexico. LOL!

Also let him know that driving old cars doesnt help manufacturing sector much either as many of the replacement parts come from outside the US and old cars dont drive new union manufacturing jobs he so proudly "supports"..

If anything he isnt much of a patriot? Do you ask him if he shops at Wall Mart and buys cheap Chinese made stuff or does he go to local farmers markets to buy stuff and have expensive union craftsmen make everything for him?

I love giving old school "americans" a lesson in global econmics. We dont live in the same world his grand parents did and we arent going back. Time for mr blue blood to become a patriot and embrace global economy.
yeah, but "old school" "Patriots" are impossible to teach anything to. It's just a waste. Kindof like the Import drones who don't realize that many American cars are more reliable than many imports. They are stuck in the past and nothing will yank them into the future.
