I read about a van going 930,000 miles on the same engine and tranny doing the 25,000 mile oil change thing. They tore down the engine and inspected it. It only had less than 1% wear from the factory specs in all that time. Not to forget, he had a ton of idle time during that whole time. If an oil is THAT GOOD to keep some delivery van going that long, I don't think I'd want to use anything else.

Not everybody beats on their cars. Most of my friends drive normal. I still hit 6,000+ RPM's on a regular basis and have no problems and no oil consumption and I'm saving money (which you all seem to complain about.)

I have just talked to too many people who have switched from all of the oils mentioned here to Amsoil and all of them never switched back.

The only people I see here complaining about Amsoil are the same people who have never even used it at all or for any length of time.

This oil saved me an engine rebuild in one of my previous cars, so I have to talk about it. If you don't want to use it, then don't. You're simply throwing away money on anything else. It's your money. Waste it how you want. My money comes hard, so I have to look for anything that will save me money. If my engine or tranny were to take a dump now, I'd be walkin'.

I was also a M1 person back in the days as well. I used it on everything. But when I noticed they changed the formula and my cars started to have start up noises, I switched to Amsoil and loved Amsoil. I was with them for years, till prices started to go up, and IMHO, wasn't worth the extra cost even though Amsoil was better than M1.

So I switched back to Penzoil Platinum and have been pleased. PP is better than M1 in their formulation and tests and it has made the car run quieter than any oil I have used. I recommend it over M1 no doubt, and if you don't want to purchase Amsoil, get PP which IMHO is good enough!

If you're whining about the price of an oil, then why did you even buy a Z in the first place? Why didn't you just buy a car for 1/2 the price and just be happy with that?

I barely spend $59/yr on oil changes with Amsoil. HOW IS THIS EXPENSIVE?! ARE YOU HIGH?!

Saying that Amsoil is expensive and then driving around in a $40,000+ car is such an OXYMORON if I have ever seen one.

$59 is what it costs me for 5 quarts and 1 filter and I am DONE for the entire year with Amsoil.

Add up what you're wasting on Mobil 1, RP or RL all year and I can bet you it's a hell of a lot more than $59 bucks.

I use 5 quarts of the 5W30 and an EAO12 oil filter on my '05 350Z. $59 includes tax and shipping... that's OUT THE DOOR delivered to my porch.

Amsoil is $8-9 a quart while PP and M1 are around $22 for a 5 quart container for oil that does just as good in the 5k miles for that change. There is no whining, it's called being smart with your money.

Also I won't go a whole year without changing my oil, even on Amsoil. Sorry to say the VQ is hard on oil and over 6k is pushing it. I also race, and me pushing it past 3-5k is not a smart idea either. Reason why I change more often and oil costs more for me.

I agree with you. I’ve read mix reviews about Amsoil. I’ve read a lot of good things about PP

But you're wrong. I don't know where you're buying your oil, but I am buying it directly from them as a preferred customer and get everything at dealer cost.

Just find a dealer who will do you the favor of selling it at cost. Some of them will do it. At least the on-line ones will. The local retail shops can't afford it because of the overhead.

I've never seen so many people on here so into themselves like they think they know it all. You people have SO MUCH TO LEARN. You think Nissan is there to tell you how to keep your vehicle running forever? You guys obviously don't know anything about business. Nissan is the LAST people you should be trusting. They only care about having your car hit 100,000 miles. After that, it's done and they want you to buy another one. If everybody used Amsoil and kept their cars 500,000 miles, Nissan would go out of business, hence the reason for telling you to use inferior oils to help the drivetrain wear out.

It's like no matter what I say, you guys all want some kind of excuse to be masochists. Why you do you all find pleasure in pain? You all need to go to the funny farm with this attitude.
