Oh this thread. This thread. I'm pretty sure it could've ended 15 pages ago and we would still be in the same place. |

This is how it works: I simply place an order with Amsoil and have it delivered to the customer. I pay the bill with my credit card, and request the funds via PayPal from the customer. That's it. Here is an order I placed recently to give you an idea: 1 Gallon of 0W-30 Signature Series -> MSRP = $41.40 1 Absolute Efficiency Oil Filter -> MSRP = $16.90 3 Quarts of 0W-30 Signature Series -> MSRP = $31.50 As it stands, this order costs $89.80. Since I'm a dealer, I can pay for the order at cost, and have it shipped to my customer. The customer paid $69.05 for the product at cost. Quote:
As far as Amsoil salesmen go, I completely agree. I'm doing my best to change the stigma associated with them. I'm just an enthusiast trying to help other enthusiasts out. |
So, uh... what kind of oil should I use?

I know, I was just kidding. I've read all the info, and the engineer in me says to use the Nissan spec. The cheap bastard in me says to use a standard synthetic/semi-synthetic.

I'm not an expert but have done a lot of reading on the subject the last few weeks both on this forum and on the WWW. Still learning, but for now I plan to use the Nissan Ester Oil in my 2010 roadster and I am going to try Pennzoil Platinum in my 300 ZX TT (used Pennzoil yellow/dino for almost 20 years and the car is still running great).
Regular changes and good filters may be a bigger driver rather than the brand (of several good oil brands). |
Any comments on Redline? some people say its amazing some people say its not lol. but thats the same with just about everything lol.

I think that's right - Sig and Mike. If it were just a regular engine, it wouldn't bother me so much. But since this engine has some unique components, that oil is specified for a reason.
(Though I still may end up using a regular synthetic because I'm so cheap. Or maybe I'll trade back and forth.) :happydance: |

The 2009 Nissan 370Z Owner's Manual just says to use a 5W-30 oil that is API certified. Here is the quote straight from the 2009 manual: Select only engine oils that meet the AmericanThere is a one line reference to the Ester Oil in note 3 on page 9-2: NISSAN recommends Genuine NISSAN Ester Engine Oil, which is available at a NISSAN dealer. That's it. Note that the Ester oil is recommended, not required. Basically, use an API certified 5W-30 oil (or appropriate weight oil for your driving conditions) and change it and the oil filter at regular (reasonable) intervals, and you will be fine. If you want to go crazy on this topic (and have many hours to kill), head on over to BobIsTheOilGuy and start reading... But be prepared for major head spinnage... |
