If your just trying to spin the tires and get a clean tire for a run coming off the clutch quick at a high rpm should get the job done, make sure TCS is off.

Traction Control system, its a thing guys, come on now. I confused it with my Altima, it had a TCS button.

I figured cause my procedure would be

rev to around 6k with clutch fully depressed to avoid burning the clutch while in first gear--> dump the clutch without letting go of gas--> lightly hold the brakes

car would die on me everytime

You can't do a standing burnout... You can do as exactly as you described, just don't put your foot on the brake at the same time.

IF you want to do a standing burnout, you must remove the Stop Lamp fuse down by your left foot. This will unable your taillights from lighting up though.
