Coming from the rotary crowd...trust me... Nissan is not the only brand that likes to leave you hanging. All we have are a million rumors and not a peep from Mazda. They've done plenty to piss off the rotorheads over the last few years.

You can get a Boxter in the 50k range.

Not to change subject

Oh I know. I had the 93 Rx7. I remember how pissed I got when they pulled em from sale without notice. Just one day dealerships were telling customers what's on the lots is what is left for this model. The car magazines found out second. When the rx8 came out I laughed. Coming from the old rx I couldn't do it. My 10 year old car looked better than the new car and was much faster. Terrrrible. I didn't lose love for mazda but I don't see myself buying one for a long time.

The Z holds the most heritage for Nissan and they're not about to just drop it. That's like saying Ford would scrap the Mustang or Chevy the Vette. The Z will be back in future generations.

Or even Porsche scrapping the 911, even though by many expert accounts, the Boxster/Cayman platform could be faster if it had the same budget/engine/etc. The 911's rear engine is only there because of heritage.

I heard from Nissan that the z is indeed dead and only the super fast yet super expensive gtr will live on. Honest truth. I just want to squash any future rumors that the gtr is on its last year after the z is gone.

I fully believe that the NISMO should be around $50k with a TT setup.
I suspect they would make the TT an option, like they did with the 280zx and 300zx(es). It does beg the question as to whether there is a market for both versions though, and whether development would be profitable. I mean what market/competition would a 50k 380z be in? That risks repeating the mistakes of the last gen 300zx. From what I can figure, a 1990 TT cost about 32k which is ~52k today. By 1995 it was closer to 43.5K (61K today).

chevy did get rid of the camaro for a while though because they wasnt selling enough of them, although it did come back. the same thing could definately happen to the Z. and im not sure if putting the TT in a Z would be a very good idea because the GTR already has a TT V6, that would definately hurt the GTR sales. i dont think people could justify spending 40K+ more for a GTR when they could get the TT Z for 50K and put simple mods and make it faster than the GTR.

The Japanese are proud, stoic people who hang on to history. We Americans will toss any heritage we have if it improves the bottom line. The Z sales are so low in comparison to the other Nissan model sales, it really makes no difference if Nissan is ahead or behind on this car. (I speak out of my on this, but I make it sound believable, no?)

They left us hanging with the Z from 97 to 02. No Z for 5 years. In japan no Z for 2 or 3 years. Most likely the Z will still go on in the JDM market. But importing to the US or any other low volume nation is highly questionable.
