Are other drivers more agressive around you when you drive your Z ?
I bought my 2011 370Z in December and am coming from a 2007 Camry SE. One of the first things I've noticed is how much more agressive other drivers are around me. I'm SURE this isn't just my imagination and people want to challenge me on almost a daily basis. I love having fun with my car but I'm not stupid enough to do any type of street racing or endanger other people. How common is this? Does this happen to everyone else? It's funny some of the cars that do this would never have a chance!

Not really...
I've only had a couple "cool kids" with their horrible rice-mobiles try and race. All I do is look over and start laughing... really hard. They are like.... fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

Yeah. Get tailgated all the time by TC's and Civics even if I'm not in the leftmost lane. They're usually very persistent, they would keep on tailgating me even if I switch lanes to let them pass.

It's pretty much a regular thing everytime I drive the Z. Just yesterday, some persistent ricer, in a Toyota Solara with a loud and funny (in a bad way) exhaust, kept speeding up to me then slowing down, tailgating me and even driving within inches of the passenger side door IN MY LANE to incite me to race him on a very busy highway. I didn't acknowledge him for the entire 4 mn (yes 4mn) he was being an a$$, he then took off hard almost rear ending a car in the rightmost lane in the process

I agree. I find a lot of drivers around me are either aggressive or inattentive. They either try and egg me on or they almost drive into me. The 370 is such a different looking car.... I'm not sure what the aura is that causes this kind of behaviour.

From little kids in their riced out Civics etc... yea they usually try to show off or get my attention/acknowledgment but I just ignore them.
From "normal" drivers I actually noticed I get more respect than when I drive my 03' Civic Si. In the Civic people would ride my bumper or never let me pass on the freeway. I noticed in the Z people give me LOTS of room at stop lights and on the freeway people move out of my way long before I get close to them haha - must be the sight of a bright blue car with greenish/yellow HID's barreling down at them that makes them go "whoa wtf is headed my way let me get out of here?!" |

Yep, and not just ricers - guys in BMWs, Mercedes, Porsches, Corvettes, Mustangs, Camaros - I've had 'em all pull up alongside me on the freeway and try to race, or pull an obvious drive-by, or cut in front of me to try and get me to go around them (and when I do they speed up to start a race). These days I just ignore them all - they're not worth it.

Have had no problems in the LA area with that at all....... Like Kenchan I would ignore them anyways and if I did pay attention i would probably get burned by em'. I am sure that they got some serious mods under the hood of most of the rice and sausage as Kenchan calls it!

I was usually left alone for the most part. With both the 370Z and the 5.0 I have had ricers try to mess with me, but I think it's more a case of them wanting to see the car run not actually thinking they stand a chance at winning.
Occasionally a BMW douche (we have A LOT of them here) will try to pick a fight but I just ignore them until they go away.

I get the lil "punto ocho" civics on me and that garbage but the biggest a$$holes out there are pickup drivers. If you pass one they get all stupid. They try to pass me and cut me off. And its so stupid cuz I don't cut anyone off. I will pass you and at minimum won't merge till I'm 50ft in front. In tight traffic sometimes you gotta do what you gotta do but in normal traffic I don't pinch anyone. Pickup and some SUV drivers will see me pass and they act like I'm inviting them to a road fight. Its weird cuz they start off doing like 50 in a 70. I pass them doin 75. Next thing you know I have an SUV pummeling down the road at 100mph to either tailgate or cut me off. Pick up drivers are really makin me sick though, way more than the rice crew. The second stupidest drivers are dodge charger v6 drivers. Its like they are mad they couldn't buy a V8 charger or challenger so they are out there trying to show they got balls.
Lastly, mustang punks always tryin to show off. They bother me but the least cuz they just show off on acceleration, then leave it alone once they go 5 over the speed limit.its only since I bought my Z. They never even paid attention in my G. Whatever. I laugh at them. With the SUV/pickup guys.they always CONVENIENTLY pull there crap when I'm with my wife. I'm just praying it happens when I'm alone. |
