Let me get this straight (oops, sorry! Bad joke). The tips are uneven in terms of how far they project from the valance, but not in terms of height? I'm trying to figure out how this could be. I could see how hanging high on one side could lead to what you describe, but you'd see it from the back, not just from above.

Have you jacked it up on stands and crawled under to see if a hanger is jammed?

The passenger side sits a little higher when looking straight on (as well as being pushed in farther when looking from the top). This picture doesn't represent well, but you can see it.
