why the 370z doesnt sell:::
I think Nissan needs to advertise the Z more. I can't believe that in its 3rd model year people are either asking me what kind of car is it or they think its a 350z. When I say its a 370, I get either "oh, I didn't know they made another version" or they ask what's a 370? People that know what it is will say things like "luv your car" or "be careful with my car". I'm surprised how clueless people are to the 370z.

whats selling now are old CRX's Geo metros , civics all for big dollars. It's crazy what 4 dollar gas can do.. I saw someone sell a 91 CRX on ebay the other day for over 6k. bone stock with like 200k miles.. but advertised 50+mpg.
|
I agree that it's impressive that no one knows what a 370 is. The 350 was a huge hit and instantly recognizable. I'd guess that people could name a Ferrari FF correctly before a 370Z.

this is exactly the truth. i personally will be buying a moped to go to/from work if gas goes over $5/gallon |
I think it has to do with the dealers not really moving on price that well either or no incentives being offered, 2010 models are sitting at dealers here collecting dust and the dealer is trying to sell them as if they are 2011's, other contributing factors are that 2 seater's for some are not ideal and the economy plays a part as well I would think...
|
I have a short commute, but even if I lived further, if a few hundred a year makes a difference, I don't think a 370Z is what you should be buying just due to maintenance.
|
i have to agree with both sides of everyones statements, it is true that the Z isnt advertised very well on TV. I have yet to see a nissan commercial specifically advertising the Z, but thats also because just like every other car manufacturer out there everyone is going for the whole fuel efficiency angle. Kind of dissapoints me though cause taking everything into consideration the Z is actually a pretty fuel efficient sports car.
|
Yeah I was noticing yesterday morning you can buy an 08 escalade for 300 a month. :uAll I know is gas prices is going to hurt the enthusiast market badly. I can see it already. Hybrid Z, camaro, mustang, challenger and gencoupes by 2013:roflpuke2:
I'm about to get a juke or a 4 banger altima as the second car in order to mise a lil fuel.... can't decide which to get??? |

Nissan didn't need to advertise the 350 to sell them, they sold themselves. It's just a bad time for a car like the Z. Competition is also really stiff right now.
|
This reminds me of a funny story. I was at a Braum's drive through. I ordered a shake and then pulled up to the window. The girl at the window asked me what kind of car is this? a 390? I misheard her at first, I thought 390 was the price of my shake LOL. People are really clueless these days.
|
Meh. The Z is the best selling sports car line in history. Period. That said, times they are a changin! In case nobody's noticed (or just doesn't want to), the economy is on borrowed time in this country and is about to fall out the bottom all together. When you've got cars getting 50 miles to the gallon and the country has already been mostly de-industrialized yet inflation continues to soar, I guess it's just kinda hard to sell candy to the candyman no matter how many commercials you put on the boob tube.
|
Outside of gas and fees/taxes, not sure where the crazy inflation you are talking about. Please don't take economics lessons from some bias nut job, use some common sense.

True, I've gotten the 350 comment a few times or more the "OMG its a 370" or "Whatever it is, its sick"
On one hand, I'm content personally to not see a lot see a boatload of the same car I drive on the streets lol. The sensical and "fuel efficient" cars are getting more buzz...but there will always be a market for lovers of the Z. I am surprised there isn't more advertising than just the commercial of the dude having to sell his 370 to get a Altima due to a Baby though |

I was driving to my girlfriend's house yesterday and saw another PG 370Z on the opposite side of the road, he rolled his windows down and told me it was nice seeing what his car looked like from another point of view, I replied with a "Me too." :) |

i dont know or claim to know about everything in the economy, but i at least have some common sense and can tell some difference between whats real and whats not. |
Sweet. This thread is turning into another politics thread.
|
Nissan does not need to advertise the 370. Its a car the sells its self. Most people know they want that car and thats it. They walk into the dealer knowing thats the car they want. Unlike an Altima or something.

i dont think people who lives outside of the snowbelt realize how annoying it is to buy a car that cant be driven in the snow without spending 1200 on rims and tires

but if you got kids the inflation does pack a decent punch each month (food, clothing, presents for their buddy's bdays x20 + daycare + savings for their college. :) Most normal families can't afford a 2 seater so they don't have much interest to begin with. |

Lol... like I was saying in the beginning. People don't know much about the Z. I guess its not advertised enough so it doesn't sell as much. I know its a niche market and I also know not many people buy 2 seat sports cars. I just find it strange in a country of over 100 million working class citizens, that a car as fun and affordable as the Z is not as well known as say a mustang. In my little world I would think sports car enthusiasts know all the sports cars??? Or maybe I greatly overestimated the amount of enthusiasts out there. Either way, the world should know that nissan built a car that kills the already sick 350z. 350z is legendary in my book as is the G35. I gotta say the 370Z took it there: can't say the same for the G37: so sad. If they would have just took 250lbs off the G and shortened its wheelbase 3 inches. It would have been the sickest GT out there.
|
There are just people out there that don't know the Z's lineage and know that it changes designations every so often, the 350 was just a popular model. Some just look at the 370 and say, look at the new 350. To most despite what we think they look alike, and they just think of it as a 350 or the "new" 350z. I do agree that it need to be marketed more although, heck even here in S.Cal "car capitol" where you see new C6's etc, you hardly ever see 370's........
|
i am with you, the 370 is pretty much a 2nd gen 350.

However, they are still almost identical in design and performance, with the 370 being an improvement in both, imo. |
why does the 370z not sell? well all comes down to the money...... people just dont have it and the little money they do have, they are saving because of the hard times. why would they spend thousands of dollars theey dont have?
Money is the problem or at least ONE of the MAIN problems they arent selling right now now as much. |
